Check first to see if you can see any stress marks - white/grey lines in the plastic

Bbs as DS wants to look at some holiday pics

My DH had a similar accident with just the base of the hire capsule in his car (DS and I were home and not with him) Got it checked out when we returned the seat - we let them know that it was in an accident at the time but there was no stress marks so it was okay.

When I had my accident a few months back the police told me that unless there were stress marks or fraying it's probably not a big deal, but also to get the tested at a car place.

    Also....
Check to see if the car seat is covered in the insurance. I had to argue black and blue with my isurance agency but they eventually paid out on both kids seats after my accident.

Afaik, the manufacturers say to replace them even in minor accidents. I'm not sure if that's law though

Check with your insurer, as they may cover the replacement of them. With AAMI they covered upto $500. I had to give them the old car seats and the receipt for the new seats. DH's car was a write off and even though the kids were not in the seats, they still advised to replace them. Damage is not always visible and the anchor straps are still put under strain.

We got our covered in our away from home cover... it clearly stated "child safety equipment" so i argued my point. They tried telling me that car seats weren't child safety equipment!

Lol typical!! I doubt they'll need replacing but we'll get them assessed when the car gets assessed
