    Mitsubishi Triton

Does anyone have a Mitsubishi Triton, and have 3 car seats in it?

DH is dreaming about, sorry researching, new cars and is considering at a mitsubishi triton. I looked up the NRMA site and it says "2x child seats fit comfortably across the rear seat. Three are just a bit tight." but it says that about most cars.

I am looking at getting slimline seats anyway, but just thought i would ask about the triton here anyway.

and yeah, we know they are ugly.

we sold ours in January I can tell you no way would you fit 3 across the back you would need to get a 3rd anchor point installed as well, we had a hi liner and a maxi and it was a struggle even to fit a small child sitting in middle.. if he wants a dual cab that will fit 3 try the VW amaroc they come with 3 anchor points and are huge inside

We looked at them when we were buying our Paj, and nope no way. They are as wide I think as the outlander.
I also had trouble with our rear facing seat. The bench part wasn't deep enough to accommodate it.

I like the look of them.

No to 3 seats. They are one of the roomiest on the market for leg room (so more older kids and adults). Great for 2 kids, as the middle part of the back seat folds down with cupholders. We have one combo booster installed for DD2, DD1 does not have a seat any more. Bit squishy if a 3rd person is in the back (doable, but they are on a bit of a bump)

On another note, make sure you have a canopy or some other covering for the back. Otherwise there is no where to put anything if the back seats are filled with people.

Our friends have one and love it. Bought it for the purpose of pulling a horse float and it does the job nicely. Our friends are over 6ft tall and we went out with them one night - DH and I sat in the back and we both had to sit sideways as the front seats were back to accommodate the height of our friends. There wasn't a lot of room and I can't see how three seats will fit.

The previous owner used to tow a horse float. We will be using ours to get around paddocks, load wood, goats and other farmy things.

Just curious why does he want a Triton (or similar vehicle)? I think the Nissan Navara was better for width and car seats, but worse with leg room. Just a warning, the lower models often don't come with anchor point or even the bolt hole to easily install one. Middle of the range and up tended to be fine.

    Apologies for the ugly comment

The triton doesn't seem to have many problems (mechanical etc), and they are going quite cheap atm. DH had a look at the Triton at the dealers and it had 3 anchor points. But it doesn't sound like you can use all 3 at once.

We like the Amorak but no second hand ones and they out of our price range.

The Nissan Navara was the other one he is considering, second hand, but they are known to have some mechanical issues. Anyone seen 3 car seats in a Navara?

We do a bit of towing, plus with a ute for some things we can just use the back and leave the trailer at home. DH is also CFA and there are times when having a decent car that can do off road would really help. For him if he running a job, or for me if i am delivering anything to the fire ground.

You sound a lot like us. Putting a trailer on was getting a pain, being able to throw anything big or mucky in the back is great.

Tritons are great mechanically (hence why we went for one, even our Mechanic wants one). Navara I believe has some kind of issue which will be $3k to fix when it happens.

Slim line seats would possible work, but I personally would find it awkward, but then I am used to the Commodore which does 3 seats across really well (well it did the few times we had 3 seats, certainly does 2 seats and 1 adult well)

Google complaints corner in regards to the Navara, you might find what issues they're having. Personally, I know of two different ones that have caught fire whilst being driven. Both were well maintained. It's why we ruled it out from our short list.

My car is a VW Golf, so i have to go with slimline seats anyway. My car will be the main kid carrying car, but there are times when we will all want to go out in DHs car.

We just got a new ford ranger dual cab. It's HUGE! Have my two kids in the back and you can also fit 6ft plus sized adult in the back seat with them! It's super roomy.
It did only come with 2 anchor points although you could get another installed easily enough. They might be another option for you?
