I felt this was a good time to remind everyone to drive carefully & pay attention no matter how well you know the road.
I was crossing the road this morning when I almost got hit by a car. So close I actually touched the bonnet with my hand but not enough to hurt. This is yet another close call at this intersection. This intersection has lights & pedestrian crossings. There is a school in the street & people speed all the time. The number of times I've seen people run the red is too many to count & unacceptable!
The woman who almost hit me wasn't running a red, just not looking properly. Too busy thinking about where she's going, playing with her radio, what to have for dinner whatever. It gave her more of a fright than it did to me.
Familiarity breeds complacency. The majority of accidents happen close to home. Don't let it be you.
Wow, I'm so very glad you are ok. We have an intersection near us, I was stopped at a red light and a car coming in the opposite direction ran the red and nearly got hit by a truck. Thanks for the reminder.
Thanks everyone. I'm fine. Just angry as this happens so often. I see people run the red light at least once a week. I really don't spend that much time standing at those lights either! What if I had DS or DD with me? What if she didn't brake at all? I see dozens of people on the phone. My neighbour (in her car) was hit by a red light runner last year. Her DD was slightly injured. It makes me furious that people just don't pay attention. So while I was lucky this time...
When I lived on a busy intersection I wrote to the vic roads and asked for a red light camera be ause I got sick of stepping over broken tail lights and window glass every day. There was a smash every week! They put one in and it made a big difference.
