Question So, who DOESN'T have their license??

I bumped into my SIL in the mall the other day and she said she was going for her L's on the weekend, DP got a phone call last night from his mum saying she got it. It got me thinking maybe i should think about getting mine. Its something i have been putting off for years...

But i am curious, who doesn't have their license? is it by choice? Will you eventually get it or are you happy to get around via public transport?

My Nan never got her license, and she died a year ago aged 80. She was perfectly happy with that decision My aunty (her daughter) was on her Ls when I was in my early teens, so around her 40s-50s? I don't know how old she is

My mum was 36 when she got her p's hhehe, some week as DF too, was funny.
She put on a considerable amount of weight once she started driving everywhere because she used to walk wherever she needed to go

I only have my Ls, only got them for ID purposes. Never had an interest in driving and still not particularly a fan of it. I was close to getting my license and then I haven't driven for a year. My current motivation is to beat my brother to getting his. DH drives me everywhere, if I was single I'd have put in the effort to get it years ago I think.

I didn't have mine til last year!
My DH and I had a deal we wouldn't have kids until I got my P's. To help, he bought me a car for my 30th, we paid for all of my practice to be done with an instructor so we didn't put strain on our relationship.
I got my P's 6months later and I was pregnant 6 weeks after that.

Before that I survived without driving, now I drive everyday and would be lost without it, especially with DS.
It has given me so much freedom in a way, and I loooove not needing to rely on others and public transport.

Good luck if you decide to do it

My DH doesn't have his. He moved to the city before he turned 18 for uni and was quite happy to use public transport. Still is

I got my L's at 16 but only got my P's at 24 while i was 39wks pregnant with DD2.
The only reason i got them was because DF booked me some driving lessons, i'd probably still be using PT if he hadn't done that for me.

I've had my L's for 4 years- driving scares me
Like a PP, my DH drives me wherever I need to go or I catch the bus.
Must get off my lazy behind and get some lessons!

Being a passenger in a car scares me way more than being the driver. I couldn't survive without my license. Living in the country makes it more of a necessity than if i was in metro area too.

I only got my liscence just over a year and a half ago. I finally bit the bullet because Jelly was going into preschool, and if I didn't drive I would have had to walk to drop her off and pick her up every time she went, rain, hail or shine - with a baby and a toddler in tow. I know the preschool is not far, but given the weather here, it wasn't a prospect I relished. Now I have my liscence I wouldn't change it for the world - it really has opened up the world for me (especially when DH disappears for army), and surprisingly, I have actually found that I enjoy driving, it is cathadic (although, the other drivers on the road can set me on edge).

I got my L's the day I turned 16, I got my P'S when DS was 11 months old! (Only 2 years ago) I now have 1 month to go and I will have my full license (yaya!!!) took me long enough...Dp got sick of chauferring me everywhere, we also moved about an hours drive from my parents place, which was a bus and two trains for me not driving, ahh its so much easier now!
BUT , ever since I have started driving my rear end is just getting bigger, and bigger.. (not to mention the rest of me!)

interesting fact: I have a complete photographic record of me since I was 16, every nine months, getting another L's photo taken, LOL

    I should probably mention I'm 31 now!

I got my L's through high school because I did a drivers ed short course. (1999)

I didn't go for my P's until 2005, the year before DD was born. Before that I didn't have a need to drive, my boyfriends always had cars and when I met and moved in with DH we were so close to everything I still didn't need it and he wanted to drive.

I think it's a good thing to have, even if just an auto licence.

Me too! DH says I'm a terrible passenger, all jumpy and not trusting - I tell him it's not that I don't trust him, I don't trust all those other idiots out on the road. I feel in more control of things when I'm driving as I'm a lot more careful than him.

Even though I've been driving for years, I am considering booking in to complete a defensive driving course in my new car, as it's a lot bigger than the ones I've driven previously. Could be worth looking into for those still on Ls or Ps too, as it does give you a lot more confidence

Get your licence! You wont know yourself!! I waited til I was 22 to get my L's.. Drove on my L's for ages and stupidly got done DUI, so lost it.. Drove whilst disqualified and lost it for a further 2yrs.. After that however I grew up a bit (Thank God!!) and went back on my L's after my disqualification was up and I have now been on my opens for a year!!!

I love being able to drive and could never lose my licence again.. I was so stupid when I was younger, but I'm glad to say I have definitely learnt my lesson!!!
