Squealing brakes

I had my brakes done a few (maybe three?) months ago; new pads and... disc thingys!! Since then, they have been squealing when I brake at low speed. It drives me nuts. We've seen the mechanic for years and I trust that he used good quality materials, but he said that the squealing would abate after a few weeks and it hasn't. With a new bub and recent school holidays, I've not had any time to take the car back. Any suggestions?

The only thing I think it might be off the top of my head is a small stone has got stuck & that is causing the squeeking/squealing. Maybe give your mechanic a call & see if he thinks it is worth looking at?

Yeah, I just asked DP and he said theres probably something on the pad making it squeak

oh my breaks do that do it i find it highly annoying.....

New brakes need bedding in, and the mechanic should have done it but they can sometimes take a few goes. When you can, break reasonabley (sp?) hard from at least 60 a couple of times, that'll scuff up the abrasive material on the pads a bit and the squealing should get at least get quieter, if not go away altogether just make sure no ones behind you when you do it!

It could be glazing on the pads or discs. You can buy a spray for it from places like REPCO and any other auto place.
