Well if I can give u one tiny bit of advice... If the car is registered this year even though u are 2 weeks from the end, you will loose thousands in resale value.
It is best to take delivery in the new year as you will have a 2012 car not a 'year old' car if that makes sense.
We found this out the hard way
Well, I am now the proud owner of a brand new blue Honda CRV (subject to finance!)!!!!. But it nearly didn't happen. We got our finance sorted last week but need to pass the car in front of the bank before they give us the money (ie we decided on the Honda CRV will you still give us the money).
We had negotiated with Holden when looking at the Captiva and were offered a very good trade in on our existing car and he also knocked a reasonable amount off the asking price of the Captiva. But we just weren't sure. So we went to Honda to check out the CRV. And I'm glad we did!
The CRV just felt so much better inside and was easier to drive (for me). So I sent DH to negotiate whilst I entertained DD. DH came out and told me that the guy wouldn't budge on the price. At all. Turns out that the factory got wiped in the Thai floods and they're not making any more. There is a NEW CRV being released mid-late 2012 and they are working on getting the factory ready for that but don't see the point in fixing it for 3 months of making the current version. And to add to that, there is very limited stock avail in Australia. Great. So no room to move.
we ummed and ahhed and DH decided to go with it because it was the best car for us but pushed a bit more. The guy wouldn't budge but did throw a few things in for us. He also promised pre-Christmas delivery (sorry Sam!). But then he offered us 1K LESS than Holden for our car. I told DH to walk away so the guy matched it and threw something else in. Our car is in very very good condition. Neither of the dealers who looked at it could believe how good a condition it is in. So that put us in a much better position and DH agreed to it all! YIPPEE!!!!!! So we have bought their last blue CRV off the show room floor. They still have the demo left. That leaves him with something like 6 CRV's untill mid-late 2012! I'm very very excited! DH and I will sign the paperwork with the bank this week and pick it up either Friday or Saturday!
So proud of my master negotiator and so grateful for my new car! I'm amazed at how easy it was to drive and park... I never thought I'd be able to drive something so big! I'm going to miss my Mazda but I'm looking forward to having a car that I don't need to "drop" into!!!!! YAY YAY YAY!
Thanks so much for your advice everyone. And for your support and encouragement!
Yay! We got a blue one too! You won't be disappointed, I love my CRV & would look at getting another one in the future. I was originally wanting a Mazda CX7 then looked at the Mitsubishi Outlander & was sold on it but DH wanted to look at the Captivas but I was really unsure after I sat in it. So I did some research into comparable cars to the Captiva and Outlander & the CRV come up & DH loved it & so do I now!
Happy motoring ;P
Thats awesome!
It will be so great for you to have a car for Christmas... will you be allowed to drive it before Sunday or will you have to wrap it and put it under a tree until then :P
Sj. I told DH I want a big red bow on it and if it's seriously my Christmas present then he'd better by me a couple of accessories (a holder for my phone) to go under the tree....and I want a big red bow on it!!!!! Lol
I will probably pick it up Christmas Eve and we will do some day trips over our short break. I thought about going home for a few dys but considering all that's happening there I don't feel it would be a wise decision.
So happy with our decision although I couldn't sleep last night!!!!!!
