    Question What's a reasonable price?

We have a '95 Suzuki Swift GTI that we are wanting to sell. I bought the car for my DP for $3200. He didn't have his license then but wanted the car to get his license in. Anywho we finally got around to getting a road worthy done on it so we could change the car over to his name and found out that there are a few issues. The muffler is too loud, need a new steering rack (i think thats called), bolt for the passenger seat, new tyres and the window tint needs replacing all of which will cost no more than $600 and its out of rego. So if we were to sell it for $2000 is that a reasonable price? And do you think anybody would go for it? It does have a car stereo system thats worth over $800 so its not totally crap Or should we ask for more?

I know nothing about cars, i don't know what things people look for when they purchase a car so i need some help!!

I would accept $2000 but maybe put it as $2000 (and something) and go for ONO. Depends on the muffler too.. why is it loud? Does it have a hole? A new muffler/exhaust system can be quite pricey to replace if you cant do it yourself.

Looking around... The pretty decent knick ones are going for about $3999, so if its $600 to fix, why not do it yourself and then you can ask for more for it? Rego usually isnt an issue for people but most of the time when they are looking for a car, its because they actually want to buy it to drive, not have to have it in the shop for weeks getting fixed IYKWIM.

Unfortunately pricey sound systems don't usually bump up the price.

How many km's, manual/auto, dents, what condition is the paint work, has it been serviced regularly?

Don't know how many km's but he would know, no dents, its manual, paint work is reasonable its been in our garage for most the time we have lived here, has a brand new battery, from what i can gather from inspecting when we bought it was serviced ever 3 months, we havent driven it a lot only friends and his dad have taken it around the block. I know the tread is low on the two front tyres, we're looking at getting a second opinion on the muffler.

redbook.com.au lists the average price as $1,400 - $3,200, so it really comes down to km's, condition, service history and so on.

From what you're described $2000 seems reasonable imo.

It also depends on demand, high demand higher price, low demand lower price and it sits around for a while.

Yes thats my honest opinion too. As long as we get atleast 2 grand we arent fussed.
