Carer's allowance and Christmas Bonus

HI Kate,
how did your friend go with the carer allowance?
I have just put my forms in and they told me they will backdate it 12 weeks prior to my claim being lodged.
I am too wondering if I will get the bonus for my daughter as if they backdate it I would have then been entitled to a carer allowance on that date.
my daughter has juvinille arthritis and that money would really help, just a pity took the doctors 5 years to finally give us a diagnosis.

I would ask centrelink if you will be recieving the bonus payment....i missed out when i placed my forms in May 08 i was awarded the backdated amount but was not given the bonus money when 1st July came around...centrelink do a great job and i was very grateful for the payment ...was upset i didnt get the bonus but its just that a bonus. I recieved all my paperwork regarding what i should be entiltited to last week...and was paid yesterday...give them a ring im sure they will be able to help you out.

Just a quick update centrelink have granted my carer alllowance and back dated it 12 weeks which ment I got the carer bonus payment of $1000.
although i didnt recieve her carer allowance on that date the government announced it because centrelink backdate carer allowance payments for 12 weeks prior to your claim going in (if your doctor ticks the bock which said is this problem been more than 12 weeks or something like that).
It took centrelink 2 days to finalise my carer allowance claim much sooner than I expected.
