    Child care fee's

    Hey,
How do I work out what I should be paying?
I don't get how they add in the percentage from c/L and all that jazz?
    Help please!

I think CCB is $3.68 per hour so if you are eligible for 60% of that for example it would be 2.208 per hour.
Then CC days aqre normally 12 hours.
So your reduction would be $26.49 per day.
So if the centre is FF $75 you would pay around $48.50 a day on 60%

    Does that make sense?
The centre should be able to give you and estimate and then let you know once the attendances have been processed.
If you are claiming as fee reduction the amount applied to your account on the centre is automatic and mostly out of their control.
If there are identifiable errors they will resubmit the data for you and then reprocess, which normally takes anywhere between 3-7 days.

    Ummmm kinda.

So if my FDC charges $6/hr,

And CCB is $3.68, and i'm eligible for %60 of that, it would be 2.208 (what C/l pays) and I would pay the 1.42 an hour?
So if my FDC charge $6 and the CCB is 3.68 - I would pay $2.32 + 1.42 = 3.74(from the what i worked out above...

    So out of pocket expenses would be $3.74 x 6hours = $22.44 a day?

Did I work that out right?

Sorry, don't take me for certain on the figures, but yes I am pretty sure thats how they work it out!
It might be different for FDC but i thought it was the same.
(as long as FDC is considered approved care!)

Do you know how to get that $3.68 CCB rate, or is that a general rate applied to everyone?

That rate is the set government rate.

Child Care Benefit - payment rates

That has a little more info, and if you navigate back one page from there you can find out more.

No worries, it is so confusing.
We have so many parents come back and ask why their bill is so high if they get 80% etc.
It's rather difficult to explain that the government set different daily rates to what centres actually do!
I wonder how many centres, etc out there really only charge $45 a day or $185 a week!

This is the formula used to calculate how much centrelink pays:

Hourly rate (3.68)x elligable hours (so 36 hours if 3-12hour days) x your ccb% x loading - which differs depending on hour many hours you use. Under 35 hours is 110% loading, 104% for upto 48 hours I think it is and 100% for hours over that.

EG If you use 2 days and receive 54%ccb it would be -
    3.68 x 24 x 54 x 110 = 52.46.
You then deduct this from your centres full daily fee for 2 days - so if it we $70 you would have to pay - $87.54 for the week.

    Hope that makes sense!

    So 3.68
