i have hear that some people have hold-ups due to their workplace, rather than centrelink, so maybe check with your HR that they have done their bits.

thanks guys but since i was self employed theres no problem with the work place hold ups. i may try to phone them again today and maybe as they say become the "squeeky wheel "as thats the first one thats fixed.
wish me luck
squeaky wheel factor wont help (trust me!! all you'll do is annoy waste time on the phone and annoy staff who will tell you the same you've already been told and document that you've been told again!)
there are certain criteria that need to be met to have PPL paid - you've met the pre-application process by the sounds of it, you're now in the queue waiting for the rest of the processing to occur. it's currently taking minimum 5 weeks from the date the forms are lodged with centrelink (which can be up to two weeks after you lodged if you put them in at medicare)
the wait time to get through to someone on the phone is quite large at the moment - you can ring through to ask the progress, but until it's actioned by the processing staff, the normal call staff won't be able to tell you anything. you'll see it on online services at the same time FAO staff see it processed. pretty much the only thing they can tell you at the call level is how long ago the paperwork was lodged... processing staff are working extended hours at the moment trying to get as many claims as possible processed as soon as possible.

i lodged all the forms to centrelink office almost 8 weeks ago
i called yesterday and the lady on the phone told me they are understaffed !! she said they had tens of thousands of un processed applications ??.. i told her i realise they are under staffed and was nice to her on the phone.
she double checked my application and said it's all done correctly.
anyway she said she would mark it urgent.
i would normally not ring back but i am getting NO income at all and my DH lost his job just after we moved to QLD,, they emailed him to let him know before he even started ?? !!
so we went christmas with NO money at all and although he picked up some casual work we still have rent and food and fuel ... etc etc etc.
i cant go back to work now as i am fully breast feeding so i have NO choice but to be a stay at home mum ...
it's just annoying when i qualify for the payment and i'm not getting anything and my baby is now 9 weeks old
thanks for your input
