I asked when I got a payment last month? I phoned and asked "please explain!" and they said it was the 30% rebate, also that the 50% rebate would be coming at the end of October. I said "I already get money taken out of fees for me, so I don't want to be paid twice" and he said "This is a separate payment, don't worry you are not being overpaid" I did nothing to receive it. But I phoned to make sure it was the right amount (as it seemed too high).

tobyturtle - the reduced fees you get is CCB, and any other fee reduction you are entitled to.
the 50% rebate is on top of this and is a quarterly payment of half of your out of pocket expenses. This is only paid quarterly (or annually if you specifically requested it) and not as a fee reduction. You dont have to register for it seperately, everyone who qualifies for CCB (even if you get 0%) gets it automatically.

Awesome for some. Not so great for others. The fees are a lot to pay upfront for those of us that get 0% CCB and have to wait 3 months for the CCTR.

That's ok TT. You didn't offend me. I just wanted to point out that it works better for some than others. In an ideal world we would receive enough assistance not to have to work, but at least we do better than those in many other places in the world.

Wow I just did the online registration thing - it is quite a process for first thing in the morning! Maybe I should have waited for my caffeine to kick in

Mine says it is due on Tuesday 28th so I assume they processing in batches and putting a certain amount of rebates through each day?

I am really confused. I have a child in registered care. Does the CCB apply to us?

deb, ccb and the rebate only apply to "approved care" not "registered"

I ended up ringing today and was told it can take up to 3 weeks... I hope he didn't mean 3 months...

I found the easiest way was to sign up for online access to the Family assistance website. Once you have an account set up you can find all your details there, update your income estimates, daycare details....

The best part is two working days before your payment is put into the bank, it will show on your front page of your account how much to expect and when it is being deposited/cleared in your account.

Found it really useful while I was waiting for the 07/08 rebate. Just logged in each evening, then about 2 weeks ago I logged in on the Wednesday and it told me I was being paid on the Friday and how much. It'll also break down your payment for you if you click on 'net'. (ie. Part A/B or in my case, how much of my 07/08 rebate was the 30% OOP expense and how much was backpay for CCB entitlement.

Highly recommend it if you don't want to potentially sit in a queue on the phone.
