That's ok TT. You didn't offend me. I just wanted to point out that it works better for some than others. In an ideal world we would receive enough assistance not to have to work, but at least we do better than those in many other places in the world.
Mel, I am in the same boat as you....a hike in fees, 0% CCB, so I am hanging out for the tax rebate!
The new tax rebate system does work better for me personally, despite the hike in fees.......it means I get it back quarterly without having to wait forever for DH to get round to doing our tax returns........so from a cashflow perspective, I am better off.
Lucy, that's my problem atm - DH takes aaaaages to do his tax returns. I've done mine and am hanging for our FTB (nominated to receive at end of financial year because I have no clue how much we'll earn from year to year) but goodness knows how long it'll be before we get it, thanks to DH and his tax return procrastination!!!
Amy - tell DH if he doesn't do it soon, you might miss out on top ups!!
not sure HOW badly he procrastinates, but if your ITR isn't lodged within 2 years of end of financial year, you don't get the top ups - they just make sure you haven't been over paid (which you won't have) but won't top you up
havnt got mine and none of my parents have theirs yet either. BG just a question it wouldnt take up to 3 months to go in would it. one of my parents rang about a week ago and they told her it would take up to 3 months b4 she would get it.
they only started processing yesterday, so no one will get payment until AT LEAST tomorrow.
the processing window is now open for three months for this first quarters payments. the aim, i believe, is to get the bulk of them done in the first couple of weeks but yeah, i believe first quarter payments will be processed up until end of next quarter. haven't been to work for a couple of weeks, and not going back for at least another two (damn mornin sickness! lol) so i can't confirm anything at this stage
Hey, missed your post before, BG. Thanks for the tip. He doesn't usually take that long, I think last time he did it within a year, but I might mention the top-up thing anyway (and just leave out the 2 years part ). Thanks matey.
3 months? Great! I hope mine doesn't take that long. I'm still spewing I'm not getting the 07/08 payment until DH's tax return is done (which will be much later as he owes more than the CCTR payment!). So I don't want to have to wait for this one too!
from what i can recall of the 10min training package i did about 2 months ago... it was starting to be paid now, and would be paid up til the end of the three month period (so until next quarter payments start). not sure HOW that is going to work though - whether it is due to waiting on usage statements from child care or what - i'm waaaaaaaaaaaaay in the dark on that one
I found the easiest way was to sign up for online access to the Family assistance website. Once you have an account set up you can find all your details there, update your income estimates, daycare details....
The best part is two working days before your payment is put into the bank, it will show on your front page of your account how much to expect and when it is being deposited/cleared in your account.
Found it really useful while I was waiting for the 07/08 rebate. Just logged in each evening, then about 2 weeks ago I logged in on the Wednesday and it told me I was being paid on the Friday and how much. It'll also break down your payment for you if you click on 'net'. (ie. Part A/B or in my case, how much of my 07/08 rebate was the 30% OOP expense and how much was backpay for CCB entitlement.
Highly recommend it if you don't want to potentially sit in a queue on the phone.
