Department of Human Services | Child Care Rebate - I hope that link is allowed.
If not, then basically:
This measure reduces the maximum rate of Centrelink’s Child Care Rebate from $7,778 to $7,500 per child per financial year, starting from 1 July 2010.
The rebate will not be indexed between 1 July 2010 and 30 June 2014, which means the maximum rate will not change during this period.
Child Care Rebate helps parents or guardians with 50% of out-of-pocket expenses for approved child care if they are working, training or studying. Out-of-pocket expenses are the total child care fees minus the Child Care Benefit.
Customers do not need to do anything, as the Family Assistance Office automatically assesses their Child Care Rebate. There are no changes to when or how these rebate payments are made.
So basically, if your out of pocket expenses are less than 15556, then you CCR will not be altered by the budget.
The main change is that the maximum will not be indexed for the next 4 years, so its not going to go up every year like it may have in the past. But this like anything else could change between now and the budget passing, or any time in the future really. Especially if theres a change of leadership, as from memory the 50% rebate was a labour party thing.
I didnt see anything in there specifcally relating to CCB or FTB
so essentially its not changing anything... just reduced it by a couple hundred...
yeah that's right. Not much change really.
Pandora - that's right. It's still pending budget passing. And Labour did increase it from 30% to 50% when they took over.
No worries liviam![]()
Thanks for that Jodi
