    So confused...please help

    Hey Ladies,
I have been trying for number 1 since January. And I know that it isn't a long time really but the last week I have been so depressed about it.
    My story is....
I have PCOS( and therefore some of the side effects too, which also depress me.)
I tried Clomid and never ovulated.
On July 12th I had a lap, hyst and ovarian drilling (and apparently this helps ladies like me to ovulate)
I got AF on July 25th and have been temping ever since....but my temp started crazy, up, down and all over.
And the last few days it just keeps going down!
    I just want to ovulate!!!!
So anyhow....my question is....does temping work? could my temps just be wrong?
I have been taking them at 6.20am every morning and I take them before I do anything else.
    Thanks so much.

    Hi Sam,
Are you waking up at the same time every morning? The theory goes that they are best after 3 hrs of continuous sleep, I find mine aren't affected by when I wake up, but others are.
I also find that after AF I have a secondary phase of dips in temps before I O and they rise again.
I don't have PCOS, so I can't help you with how that affects things I am afraid.
Have you considered acupuncture or chinese medicine to assist the process, lots of women use it in conjunction and I have found it really useful in regulating the cycle and steadying my temps? It doesn't work first go, but over time I have had some great improvements.

    Hi Sammy,

Sorry to hear you are feeling down.

I have PCOS and temping never really works for me - my temps are all over the place.

If I do O - my temp is really sluggish to rise. And then the 2 times I have been UTD my temps were still low even then - I could not believe it when I got the BFP from a BT with DS because my temp didn't rise at all when I thought I had O'd - I thought I had because I had EWCM.

Do you check for EWCM? CM can be a good indicator of how your cycle is doing. If it stays the same and infertile over a long period then you know that things aren't happening. This is the only thing I have found to be a reliable predictor of O.

ATM I am trying acupuncture. I am still a bit irregular with that but at least I am O'ing.

Have you considered anything like that?

My acupuncturist says that she can predict which patients Clomid will work for and those for which it won't. I don't know how true that is but she sees Clomid as just another herb which is beneficial for certain deficiencies but not for others.

You never know - Chinese Medicine may give you some insight into what your particular deficiencies are and help with the O'ing.

    Good luck.

    Hi Sonya and Ticklish,
Thanks so much for replying! It really helps when you have people to talk to that are going through the same things!

Yep I wake up at the same time every day...6.20am and I just reach over and grab my thermometer and take my temp. But I seem to always wake up in the early morning around 3am-4am and get back to sleep about half an hour later so I wasn't sure if this is affecting my temps because I am not getting the solid 3 hours continous sleep??

I was doing acupuncture for a while before I had my lap & hyst and ovarian drilling. But unfortunately it got a little expensive so I had to leave it for a while. BUt I still stick to the diet that she suggested I be on for helping with my reproductive area.

Ticklish, it is so reassuring to hear that you have sluggish temps too. Even though I know it is totally mental!!
I am checking CM too....On Sunday I had some EWCM and then I had some again yesterday arvo! I was so excited!

Have you ever used OPKs? I have tried two this cycle, one on Sunday and one on Monday and both were negative. But I have heard that they don't work with PCOS anyway....so I probably shouldn't be using them because they just make me more mental about the whole thing.

    Thanks again for replying.

I know OPKs work really well for me, but as I said I don't have PCOS.
Just remember to take the OPK in the afternoon and to have held off from going to the loo for a while to increase concentration. I hold on from about 3.30 until I get home and test about 5.15pm, takes practice but I always get results so I stick to it. I usually get a light line, and then the positive heading into O, but I have had +'s for a couple of days at the same strength which can be a bit confusing.

Hopefully someone with PCOS can help you here.

    Hi Sammy,

OPKs don't work for me either. I only found out from a recent thread that it may because of the PCOS - something to do with having relatively highish LH levels anyway and not really getting a good surge.

I have only had one almost positive EVER and it was not from lack of trying - that positive was really really faint so overall I found they were generally useless for me - not to mention expensive because of having to use so many!!!!

Yes, the acupuncture gets expensive. If I don't get the BFP soon, I don't know what we will do - just that it will work soon. Did it make any difference for you?

I think the interrupted sleep would effect the temps too!

    Hey Sonya and Ticklish,

I use the OPKs when I get home from work...so about 5.30pm....but I go to the loo before I leave work at about 4.30pm. So today I am going to hold on until I get home.

I bought 30 OPKs online from Lullaby Conceptions for about $27 so I am just going to use those until I finish them.

I only did acupuncture for 2 months...but was going twice a week....it did make me feel calmer about the whole process of TTC. But it didn't make me ovulate or regulate my temps. I presume I would have to go longer for it to take affect.

I really hope that you get a BFP soon I have everything crossed for you.

    Hey Sam,

I think when I was using the OPKs, I was using them twice a day trying to catch the surge (still didn't work!) - but it was a while ago - I can't remember what type of wee was best to test - vaguely remember something about it having to be in the bladder for a few hours before testing - can you hold on? Do the instructions tell you anything? This might have been something to do with the particular ones I was using - Seratec I think - they were the ones from the FS. Sorry I am not much help with OPKs.

Really - 2 months of acupuncture - twice a week and no O!! That would get really expensive. I guess I am lucky then - been doing it once a week for 2 months and had 2 AFs - not regular but pretty good for me because I can go 6 months without anything at all . Guess I am lucky!!!

I really hope this all gets sorted out for you soon. Hope the FSH injections work for you - not long till your FS appointment .

    Hey Ticklish
Thanks so much for your kind words.
I just looked up my acupuncture appts in my diary...and sorry I was wrong. It was only once a week! I think I must have had a brain explosion before.
That is so awesome that you had 2 AFs from doing the acupuncture!! That would be so great.
    Thanks again
