    Temping while BF'ing at night?

I have a question, I'm not TTC, but would like to keep temping for my own reasons (and to partially use as BC )
But I'm BF'ing my DD and am often up around 2-3 times at night to feed/change her.

Is it still possible to effectively temp? If so, how?

    Ta ladies!

I've been wondering about this too. I'm still up with DS a few times a night. We are co-sleeping though but trying to get him to go part of the night alone in his bed. Regardless the time of day I'm up in the morning and night time activity is all over the place. From what I remember of my charting when we were ttc it really is important for accurate charting to be able to take your temp at the same time each morning before you get out of bed and for the room temp to be pretty much the same each night and have the same cover on etc. Having said that I think that's pretty extreme. I feel pretty confident that even with getting up a bit you'll still see a big enough temp rise after ovulation to determine when you have ovulated. That is a personal thing too though I guess. I used to see a definite rise the next day but some woman only have a slight one. If you were like that then the up and down during the night and temp changes in room etc would be more important. hope that helps

I was wondering a similar thing - we're looking at TTC next month and I'm still feeding DS and he likes to change when he wakes up overnight still (at nearly 2 years we still don't have an approximate time we'll tend to get woken up - any time after 4am is common)

i reckon just give it a go, and see what happens.

vaginal temps can be a bit more accurate than oral temps.

Be a bit cautious if you are using it as your sole birth control, maybe do it for a few months to see if your cycles are regular before relying on it.

Hotl - how do you do vaginal temps? Do you need a specific thermometer?

I don't plan to use it as the sole BC just yet if our fertility is based on DD, I don't want to get pregnant now!
I've only had 2 AF since DD was born, but it was about 6-7 weeks after the initial bleeding stopped, and then 5 weeks after that AF exactly

Cherished - Thats the only problem, im not entirely sure how big my rise usually is because I only managed to get one down on FF. that one was quite noticeable, but then there was also a cold snap around that time I think. that was a year ago
I might just give it a go n hope for the best. I seem to be able to get a good block between about 1-5am, so I might do it when I first wake up around that time

Anyone else have any experiences knowledge in this area?

I've been thinking about this all day and I don't think I will even temp this time around. I've just charted about 5 cycles since getting AF back after DS and I've only recorded CM and +OPK's and I've known the day that I've ovulated each cycle without having to temp.
