Hey there,
Strange Q coming up, but i really feel i need to ask the question LOL.
Okay last year when DP and i started TTC, i bought a BD thermometer from the chemist, it only measures temps to 1dp. I then bought a thermometer from LC (the white one with pink end) and that does to 2dp.
The issue i have is, i have had a play with both, to see which one i should use, and the BD's temps are more consistent, like, they dont fluctuate too much so 1 min id be 36.2 and the next 36.1 so on, but with the LC one there is a huge fluctuation, like 1 min ill be 36.45 and the next ill be something like 36.67.
Which one should i use?? The one thats more consistent, or the one that has 2dp??
Those of you with the LC ones, does yours fluctuate so much?? I used both thermometers at the same time, to see if id get a temp around the same, and they werent even close. I used my BD thermometer and another normal thermometer here at home, and those two both had the same temp with .1 difference if at all, everytime i have tested them.
I know it doesnt really matter all that much, as long as i use the same thermometer all the time, but this is bugging me lol. Are ovulation thermometers different to normal thermometers?? Is that maybe why the LC and the other two are different in temps at any given time?
(Im sorry, i did say this was a weird Q, and that it really shouldnt matter, but its been burning me up for quite some time, i just had to ask) OOH OOH i also wanted to say, im NOT TTC, im just getting in touch with my body for when DP and I do decide to TTC #2. Shouldnt be for some time though.

I think the ovulation ones are more sensitive as they are made to be read within a certain range. I kept getting days of "flat" temps with the dingle DP one at 36.6 so that is why I went to the double DP ones.
Maybe your LC needs new batteries??. I found for me that before O i had consistant temps and post O they fluctuated much more
In the end as long as you can clearly tell your ovulation pattern i think it wouldnt really matter although i agree with Sam by saying that the ovulation ones are more sensitive for a reason.
