is it cruel to put ds trough separation anxiety

i am considering putting DS into childcare next year as i feel he will enjoy the stimulation and socialisation not to mention would love some down time as my husband works nights and full time student i dont get any me time..but i don think it is worth my DS getting really upset over. I hope he will enjoy and i will probably do it slowly (go with him then half days ect) wat r your thoughts he will be 22mths

I am going through this now with Sammy too..also being a fulltime student with a DH that works very long hours. I have never used daycare before so have been assessing it all very carefully. I think it can work well if you feel comfortable with the centre that you have chosen. Sammy is quite a bit older than your darling son but its such a wonderful age where their development can just be so different after a few months. Some of the things that we have been doing with Sammy is talking about his new "school" to try and prepare him for what will happen. We have an appt in the new year to show him around and we will all try and make a big fuss. I think it can work. All the best

We just started Aricyn in day care one day a week and whilst he is younger than yours will be, I found that he needed to be more social as he was starting to be very shy around people, and cry at people that he didn't know. I was a shy child, so I didn't really want to go through all that. He loves it!!! fits in so well, and the people at the centre are so nice and let me call anytime I feel the need. As soon as I walked in the place I knew it was the right place for him. Thats the most important thing. You need to feel the "good vibes"!!!

Let him get all excited about his new adventure.

You might even find it's best to walk straight out and not hang around though. It's hard but they can get distracted by shiny things real quick.....

i had a look at a few of the so called better centres today and will look at a few more to...but didnt get GREAT feel for any and think i will maybe wait another 4-6 months so i can hopefully communicate easier with tariq so the transition is more gentle ... hummmm or am i just no t ready lol! or perhaps my instincts telling me DS not ready..

as a carer it depends on wat kind aof care u r lookin into but..... when i have new kids come into care i find the kids that r the worst r the ones where the parents stay for ages because then they think it is a place for mummy to be and when she leaves it is even more upsetting. i get children to start coming for say 2hrs if the parents think there will be a issue and then slowly build up the time as the child gets used to it.

Also to add to what sassy said i also think that one day is not enough if you expect them to get used to it. I think that two day s gives them a bit more of a routine and more time to get used to it. Just my opinion though. I also am a carer
