deciding what days to go to preschool?

At the moment DD1 goes to preschool on thursdays. We are looking at sending her two days a week soon, and we're not too sure what day to decide on.

So at the moment, tuesdays and wednesdays are Dh's days off. So we spend that as a family. So the two days left are friday and monday.

Talking to the preschool teachers they said to send her on fridays, so she would get an idea of school will be like. (So thurs and fri)

But then I wonder if it would be better if she went on mondays because a week is a long time in a kids world. And Im thinking her social skills would develop more if the time between preschool days was less. (so mon and thurs)

So Im after some input, what days would you send her?

I'd send her to the two in a row. The gap between Monday and. Thursday IMO is too long. Her adjustment to having two days in a row will be quicker and easier IMO.

I think thur/Friday too.

I would of done a tues/thus but that days out ;-p Monday I think is a little too long in between days.

Too long between days was my argument for the monday position (Thinking its a whole week between visits) But Dh agrees with you on the friday position

I would go with Thursday/Friday mainly because Mondays tend to be public holidays a lot of the time and you still have to pay even though they don't go!! (If it's like cc that you are talking about or kinder?) Also going 2 days in a row would be an advantage in consistency as well.

Oh the other factors I forgot to mention was that monday was an older and bigger group of kids going off to kindy next year and friday is a smaller and younger group of kids going to kindy.

We've just had a similar decision making process with DS1 dropping from 5 to 2 days per week at daycare!

We've opted for Thursday and Friday.

Partly because so many Mondays end up being public holidays or the Tuesday is, making it a good day to take off too! and also because our weekends can be pretty busy, and so Mondays can be a bit of a tired day anyway - we'd rather he was full of beans and ready to learn

I agree with the public holiday thing. It's very hard to explain to an excited preschooler why they can't go all the time when PHs mean boo to them.
