    Reassure me please!

DS starts his first day of FDC today (well, half a day - I'll pick him up before nap time) and this Mummy is feeling a little anxious, guilty and frankly, a little queasy too! We've had two play dates there already, the carer is lovely, the three other boys are all friendly and easygoing, he's had a great time, it's only two days a week and I am confident it'll be great for him developmentally and socially. But, I'd still like to hear some kind/wise/reassuring/calming words please....! TIA

Awwww, I'd give you a hug but a is more like it! I think it's exciting hon!! It's the next step for you guys just like all the little people who start/ed school this week. Besides it's not like you aren't around to go and pick him up if he really doesn't like it (gawd, I hope I haven't just given you any ideas) LOL. And you said he likes it anyway and you will get a well deserved rest, so live it up before #2 comes along

The first day is always the worst. Hope you both have a good day!

You and your gorgeous little boy are both going to be fine. So far both of mine have gone off easily on their first days but I was an absolute wreck when I dropped my first born off - cried and cried and cried and cried, LOL!! My second I was much better because I was used to it and knew that my kids were well looked after. My kids have been going since they were 11 months old (had to return to work) so that is anywhere up to 3 years and they love it!!! They even ask to go on their home days and get all upset when they have to stay home with me.
I won't lie some days they won't want to go and some days there are going to be tears (from both of you) but they have so much fun and the best thing is they are so tired from all the playing and fun that they go to bed early that night.
Enjoy your rest while DS is having fun.
Fingers crossed DS has a fabulous day!!!!

He will be fine and so will his mummy. I remember being so worried about DS2 starting childcare and me "abandoning" him there. He just LOVES it! I suffered mummy-guilt for nothing.

Try and relax and enjoy your time without your LO (if you're anything like me though you'll be hanging by the phone waiting for "the call").

You'll both be fine, I was an emotional mess last week for A's first day but she had a ball and when I tell her now that we are going to go to childcare to "play" with the kids she starts looking for her bag to pack her Elmo toy (for sleep) all ready to go

I had the major mummy guilts that first day and even the second day I got all emotional but today day 3 was a lot easier............think we take longer to adjust than they do.

Thanks ladies. I read your replies earlier but didn't want to post until my little boy was safely home, lol!

He had a ball. No tears at all, just waved Mummy goodbye and held his carer's hand. He was there with his little face pressed against the door when I got there to pick him up (they can see me arrive, so came out to wait for me.) saying 'Mumma, Mumma'. He then grabbed my hand and pulled me in to look at 'his space'! He ate all his sandwich plus snacks, did some glueing and didn't cry once - the biggest surprise of all because anyone who knows DS knows he is a clinger and a cryer, lol!

Even I made it back to the car and was driving out before I started crying!

Day one over....bring on day two! (His first nap. Eeeek!)

Sorry - can't add rep points to some of you because I apparently need to 'spread the love' more, but know I really appreciate your kind words.

I went to the shops - couldn't have handled being at home in an empty house...

Within a couple of months you will really appreciate having those 2 days to catch up on loose-ends around the house or meet friends for a coffee somewhere, fingers crossed that day 2 is as smooth as today
