This is Scouts fourth week in daycare now. He goes two days a week for some social time and mummy time for me.
He loves it. Even the very first day he was a little hesitant but happily went off with one of his teachers to the swing and waved goodbye.
Every week he has bound out of the car and tried to kiss me goodbye at the door before we had even got inside.
Today though, he didnt want to get out to the car. He clung to me once inside and then starting crying while I was putting his nappies away.
I tried to comfort him but he just wanted to be held which is a bit hard for me at the moment, my big belly gets in the way.
He happily went to one of his teachers and snuggled into her shoulder sobbing, at which point I was starting to lose it so I gave him a big kiss and had to leave.
Then stood outside the door a blubbering mess.
I rung as soon as I got home and he was fine, playing happily as I knew he would be but man dont you hate it when they do that??
Pulls at my heartstrings and makes me feel horrible for the day. I still feel awful now even though I know he is ok.
Urrggghhhhh men!!!
oh god, we're going through this at the moment with ds, he has a great time at daycare, also 2 days a week for social skills, but the leaving mummy bit is terrible. on monday by the time the teacher too him, we were both in tears. i've been telling myself, you gotta be cruel to be kind sometimes, and kindy is so good for them, and hopefully the seperation anxiety will ease.
good luck, i know i dread drop off, but i'm sure it will get better, just keep persisting xox
AB - my DS is so similar to yours. He was fine the first few weeks of drop off and then cried after that. My sister (who works at his daycare centre) says it is very common for children to have tears on the 3rd or 4th week. She doesn't know why - it is pattern they see all the time. It is so hard to leave them when they cry isn't it! My DS will still have a little cry at drop off but I think it is now habit, as bad as that sounds.. Mummy drops me off, I have a few tears, then my lovely carer will cuddle me and take me to the 'special toy' cupboard for a play.
It did stress me out but he absolutley loves daycare - asks everyday if he can go, talks about his friends all the time, and gets excited when we pull in, although he is clingly when we get out of the car.
Both my boys cry every time I take them (one day a week). And DS1 cries getting left at Kindy too. I always go round the corner and peek in the window, and they're fine within about 30 seconds of me leaving, but it is so hard. I have tears is my eyes all the way back to the car.
