DS initially went somewhere that didn't put his picture up, didn't give him his own peg (everyone else had them), didn't respond to him as a person... I gave notice after a month; he was only one day a week and they weren't interested. He moved somewhere else and they were fussed about him: he loved it and thrived.

Given that the director even isn't that fussed, I don't know how much good having a chat would do.
