Pre-prep 2011 Brisbane/Gold Coast???!

Hi all

I am really keen to get my son into a pre-prep program next year, not at a child care centre, at a school (public or private but prefer private). Does anyone know of any schools that offer this from CBD-Southport? My DSD goes to St Hildas but TSS (their brother school) doesn't offer it which I think is ridiculous!!!

try the c & k kindergartens they are brilliant!! But have huge wait lists...you never know?? i am in the same boat ..on the other side of town, All Saints and Hillcrest private schools offer prep-prep i have my name down at both, just playing the waiting game.. would love to hear of any others too! good luck

I've heard of C&K but it's really daycare with a pre prep curriculum and I'm wanting Blake actually apart of school. Cheers though!

my son is at a c & k and its nothing like a day care. 9-2.30pm and the program is brilliant! seriously go and have a look

There are c&K daycares, but a lot of kindergartens that are only 4 year olds...I don't think you'll find many that are attached to schools. Just because a centre is daycare also does not mean it doesn't provide a high quality pre prep program either.

Don't know of any schools in particular, but a lot of private schools have this option. Usually religious based schools.

my son attends a centre that is for only 4 year olds so its very different to the childcare centre he went to last year. Ashlee, some of the centres that I know are for pre prep only on coast, are in Labrador, Broadbeach Waters and Mermaid waters. All come highly recommend

I wasn't at all implying that if it wasn't attached to a school it would be of lesser quality, I was just saying it was my preference.
Gucci-could you possibly give me the names of the centres you know of? I'll look into C&K I'm obviously misinformed about this. I had a look at hillcrest, pity it's so far :-( the all saints website wouldn't load.

sorry Ashlee I meant the C &K centres are in Labarador, etc.. there is also one in southport i think ..have a look at website C&K | FindNearest.

i know its difficult we dont have a lot of options on the gold coast! like i said im in the same boat.. basically my son is due to start prep next year but i want to hold him back and cant repeat a year at c & k... can i ask the other option u found?? I would love some suggestions too!!

It's up here, in Yatala, next to Rivermount College (which is one of the schools I'm looking at sending him too). It's an early learning centre but with "pre-school" rooms, one for 3 year olds, the other for 4 year olds. Sounds really great actually, the centre is Yatala Early Education Centre and Pre-School 1 and 2. I'd assume this would be too far north for you though? Not sure you're allowed to hold them back unless the centre they are at believe he isn't ready?

oh thanks for that but yes a little too far.. so does that mean you make your way to southport for st. hildas??? Actually as prep is not compulsory you can hold a child back from prep and its actually becoming a lot more common especially amongst boys to give them that extra year for maturity.

Oh really there you go another misinformation from me lol
DSD is in pre prep 2 days a week, and my partners business is predominately on the coast, but we live up this way. Were in a bit of a limbo as to what's going to work as driving to southport from here on a daily basis is going to be near impossible and way too costly.

You can hold them back, but you cannot send them to prep the following year,, they must start year one in the correct year.

Ausgirl i have spoken to a few schools and they are happy to allow me to hold my son back from prep and enter prep the following year. but saying that i know some state schools don't allow it.. just depends on the school
