I've read a couple of other threads on this, but I'm still totally confused.

I was thinking of sending DS to pre-prep next year, but have no idea what to look for, or what questions to ask, how much it's going to cost or what's involved. He already goes to family day care, which I love (she's in our street!), but someone's feel like he's being held back coz the other two three-year-olds (between 4 and 6 months you get than DS) don't know their colours or alphabet etc or are struggling when DS does. DS can spell his own name, even write it sometimes, where the others can't. I thi k he'd benefit from some sort of structure. The fdc lady also looks after a baby and there are days where she can only focus on the baby and can't give as much attention as she'd like to the kids.

So what does a preprep program involve? What do they do? Im in QLD, and have been told one of the local private schools have a c&k thing. A friend sends her daughter there and thinks they're great.

What questions do I need to ask and what do I need to look for?

Dh has absolutely no idea what it even is!
