As the title says, DS's kindy is blerry hopeless, Jumpers, pants and today his lunch box!.
I understand that it is most likely that another kid/parent has picked it up, BUT BLERRY HELL. IT'S ALL LABELLED IN BIG FREAKING BLACK PEN
Is it just our kindy?
Next year, I am gunna get his name embroidered all over everything IN 10cm HIGH LETTERS!!!!.
TFB, I dont know why it doesnt come back. I have seen numerous notes in the newsletter about this situation, so I guess its not just me.
Its frustrating and expensive...
I think it depends on the group. My DS1 went to Kinder and didn't lose a thing the whole year! DS2 is going this year and we have lost a list as long as my arm!
I just don't get it. I label containers. I write on hats in Black texta and still we have lost these things. He took a small stuffed toy for show and share, didn't come home. DS2 is pretty clueless about this sort of stuff.
I have checked lost property and also asked the Kinder teacher, it really is frustrating.
If something odd comes home in DS2's bag that doesn't belong to him I take it back..common sense right??
I have spoke to a couple of parents who agree with my point of view, I just don't have a clue what is going on this year!!
I hear your frustation Livingthedream, it has driven me mad this year.
DS had no problems at the first day care he went to- we had to bring everything and it always came back or was in his bag, no dramas ever.
We have moved and now DD goes too and so far I have had two bottles lost, two hats and she came home in a nappy with someone elses name on it (and i know she had plenty of her own nappies there!!! WTF???)
I label EVERYTHING too, especially her bottles!! The first one that went missing I was right onto it and noticed there was only one in her bag when I picked her up and I asked where the other one was, they looked and no one could find it. I have asked every day she has been there since and still nothing. The second time they had actually given me another kids bottle (same brand, but not labelled the same way as mine are, and the name was rubbing off, but it was obviously NOT my daughters name. I did the right thing and brought it back, and still havent had my bottle (which was obviously given to the other person with the same brand bottles) returned, so that two now that are gone.
Her hats too... she started with one that had elastic to help keep it on, that went. So I had to bring another one that didnt so it kept falling off and now thats gone too!!! So I have to keep bringing a new hat everyday so they dont put a "spare" (some other poor kids "lost" hat no doubt) that who knows who wore last and could have nits or anything in it!!!
Sorry hijacking, but no- your not the only one!! I do understand that yes it would be hard for the carers/teachers to remember every article of clothing or everything that belongs to each and every kid, but cmon, if its labelled, then they could pay a little bit more attention!!!
Hi I owed a preschool for 5 years and have been working in centres for around 20 years. Parents would always pick up other kids clothes, lunch boxes and sometimes the children would put there clothes in other kids bags. Well you would think that the parents would bring them back to preschool but no alot of them would go yay free jumper or lunch box. Any way one day a little girls lunch box went missing we apologised to the mother and we told her we will look for it, well the next day a little girl had the other childs lunch box the mother crossed out the little girls name and put her own child's name on it. We all could'nt believe it, I did approach the mother about the lunch box and she said she found it..............
