2 yr old and possible glandular fever

Did he get a rash at all from the penicillin? That's one of the tell tale signs of glandular fever is a reaction to penicillin

No he hasn't had any kind of rash and he has been taking it for a while now.

I did just get a call from the doctor saying that his white cell count is 27 and should be about 17 and that he does have glandular fever.
She said for him to keep taking the penicillin for his swollen tonsils but its also a viral infection.
I'm a bit confused though
