I was in a full body cast when I was 5 after a car accident. They are no fun at all. I remember doing so much craft things and my nana found this really big blunt needle and helped me make a teddy. It took me a couple of weeks she said.
I remember I was in the hospital for a couple of weeks after and they had programs there for me, maybe your friend could ask the hospital if anything like that still happens.
