Treat bub like you would give a dog tablets lol.

Put it down between the cheek and gums (it will distress bub if you try to pry the jaws open if she's not co-operating), slowly dispense the medicine from the syringe and stroke the throat till she swallows. The chemist told me to do it like this and it works!

If she has a dummy, pop the dummy in and use the syringe to slowly give it to her throught he side of her mouth. Because she's sucking, it'll go down.

Soft spoon is a great idea if she doesn't use a dummy.

Thank you everyone so very much for your responses We tried the amoxil via the bottle teat this evening and that seemed to work very well - still a little bit dribbled out but nowhere near as much

I am so relieved to have a few more ideas up my sleeve too in case the bottle teat method no longer works...

We're back to see the GP on Monday morning for a scan referral for dd (routine for when bubs get uti's apparently?), and also to do a follow-up urine test so hopefully enough ab has made it in to get the all-clear

Raven's advice is good. It's important not to squirt the medicine straight down the back of the throat - if you do, they may choke on it. As far into the back of the cheek as you can get it is usually the best spot, as they find it hard to tongue it back out from there.
