Allergic Reaction???

If there is a chemist open today where you live take him in there, and see what they suggest it may be an allergic reaction to the bandaid and they can suggest an alternative.

My friend's DD has the EXACT same thing. Her GP has diagnosed an allergy... looking at hers I disagree. This child is allergic to mozzie bites and I am thinking it is part of her reaction to the bite. She is on antibiotics for the "infection" (which I don't see). I'd drop by the chemist and see what they think or make an appointment for your GP. If you want to keep it covered, telfa is a non stick dressing that won't affect it and then you can tape it on with paper tape to secure it. It will NOT be water proof. If you want a waterproof dressing, you can try tegaderm or opsite. All products are available at the chemist.

ds is allergic to bandaids here he gets burns from them take him to chemist and ask for their opinion sweet

It sounds like an adhesive allergy to me as well. Look into hypoallergenic alternatives - I believe bandaid brand does a hypoallergenic bandaid, a lot of the other brands would as well.

Thanks so much guys... Sorry I have not updated...

I went to the pharmacy and got the stuff that you recommended MG, and covered it up. But things got worse and the blisters kept spreading, and so on Monday we went to the Dr. And they don't know what it is... It might be bullous impetigo so swabs were taken, and we were given antibiotics, and they told me I did a good job in the dressing and to keep that up... But we are really struggling to get him to take the medicine... even chocolate bribes are not working... Should have the results tomorrow. Will let you know how we get on.

He has FDC tomorrow, so I hope he manages to keep his dressing on... and take his medicine for our carer..

which dressing did you try Rufalina? The tegaderm/opsite or the telfa and paper tape? If it was the paper tape, that is a pretty bad allergy!!! I hope he takes his medicine for you and gets better quickly! You could try to play doctors and nurses with him and get him to give Teddy (or other fav toy) medicine and the DS has a turn at being the patient...
