might be just a viral rash, i've panicked a few times with the kids, but that's what we always get told. sometimes happen when they have a bad cold, just another form the virus can take.
Hope Emerald is ok, poor little munchkin!
DD has been off for a while (congested, feverish last week, red throat, pink ears, conjunctivitis which i was able to treat due to another recent infection), had a couple of rashy spots on her face this morning (a friend reckons she seen it yesterday but i didn't) and now tonight has a rash from her hair line down into her nappy - it's all pink slightly raised "spots"...
have googled rubella as that's where mums brain went but the pics seem like bad cases so hard to compare..

Could be measles. Symptoms sound similar. However it could also be one of those garden variety viral rashes. Hope she feels better soon.
I'm not sure on Rubella as we have thankfully never encountered it BUT we have had many viral rashes that sound similar. The last bout was around 1 month ago, kids both had a shocking virus with high temps and were completely covered in a pink/red slightly raised rash. I had them both up to the Drs many times but was reassured it would die down but it could take around a week or so.
If you don't feel right about it though, take her to the Dr. Always better to err on the side of caution.
Hope she is better soon!
thanks ladies
will get DH to take her to GP if gets worse tomorrow. hopefully this is jus the tail end of her virus. she is short fused and tired and sooky = not my usual happy bubba
Could just be a viral thing, we had similar here last week, temp, rash & a bit cranky. Hope she's feeling better soon.
no idea hun, but i hope she gets better really soon... nothing worse than an upset n unwell child**BIG HUGS**
I was going to say viral/ fever rash too. When dd1 gets a high fever she breaks out in a rash. Hope she recovers soon.
You poor things, it's such a shocker when they're not themselves. I feel your pain with the never ending illness in this household lately! I hope it clears up shortly chick![]()
Its very unlikey to be measles, there are hardly any cases of that these days, but it could be baby measles / roseola.
Has she had a very hingh temperature as well?
When DS had it he had high temps (39.5+) for 2 days then broke out in a rash all over his torso.
she was running 39+ for three days at the end of the week - red throat and pink ears (gp put this down to the fever)
we're going to check how it's going now and then again in the morning and if it gets worse we'll get her checked
i've checked with everyone we have contact with that has kids we've seen in the past few weeks and all seem healthy so i'm leaning more towards a viral rash rather than an infection as such
We've had a similar thing here. Google Roseola Infantum, the Better Health Channel link that comes up first is what the Dr gave us yesterday... It's basically a rash that comes out at the tail end of a virus, as the temp starts to return to normal.
Unfortunately for us, we think J's rash is actually Rubella because she didn't have the temps before & the rash is still there & not fading after 24 hours like the Roseola one does.
I hope she is feeling better really soon. Poor little mite.
I also hope your little girl feels better soon, Sarah.

We have just had an outbreak of measles here and a number of cases have been reported.
I though measles too when I read your description, but if it is small raised dots similar to heat rash, it is most probably just a viral rash. My kids seem to always have them whenever they get sick and they come up really fast on my kids. DD2 had one a couple of months ago that covered her face, back and tummy. If it's a viral rash, it looks more scary than it is. I have rushed my kids off to the doctor when they have rashes like this on more than one occassion because they are so hard to pick. Usually they come up after my kids have been sick for a couple of days or sometimes after they have started to get better.
I hope it's nothing serious and your DD is feeling better soon![]()
