It's only a set backwards if it is to them.
I have a 7yo and a 4yo. 7yo we are still working with and the 4yo is not dry at night at all. He still wears a nappy. For the most part he has no issue. On the nights he does, I just wait until he's asleep.
My 7yo started refusing pullups at the end of last year. It made the whole issue worse. So I gave up on pushing them, and what do you know, that little bit of control for her really helped.
