best things to get rid of nits

From what I've read the eggs can't survive. If an egg is too far from the scalp but still on the hair there's a good chance it's either hatched already or dead. I agree with the conditioner and nit comb though.

Actually it's been proven that head lice do not survive long away from the human head, so other than pillowcases, brushes, hats etc you shouldn't need to go overboard with washing sheets/towels etc.

I was just about to post something similar, i spoke to a chemist lady who had just come back from a conference about nits, this was last year, what she told me was that the new studys are, that they dont have knees so cant jump from head to head and once off the head they dont survive past 24 hours, so she said, u dont need to wash everything, just shake ur pillows and doonas, and vacume the floor.

When i dont have any moov in the house, we do the conditioner treatment as well, and vinager.

Anila, that's right, they don't jump... it's direct head to head contact or obviously if there is one in a hat and you know how kids can plonk them on their friends heads sometimes lol.

Yeah, there is a lot more information out now in head lice and basically they say don't waste your time on bedding etc, concentrate on the head only. They looked at a school with 2000 students, they found 40,000 lice on heads, but absolutely nothing on floors, tables etc (this is from memory, if I can find the study I will post it)

Do you have any tea tree oil? Mixing that in a bit of water and spraying on his hair will help too.

This was my MIL's suggestion last night when we told her my sisters kids had nits, and if she could check if DS had them too (DS hates having his hair washed, and the least fuss is when Nanna does it, so thats why she was looking).

Old hairdressers trick. Kills eggs instantly.

We had it sprayed in our hair.

Weird, but it works.
