My son was tested because of rhesus risk. He's B- and I am O-. Thought he was in the clear but he actually got jaundice from the ABO mismatch. (It's not inevitable, but some O mothers are capable of producing antibodies that attack A or B blood in the baby, it just is milder than the rhesus issue.)
My husband is AB+ so our children will be A or B, + or -. Lots of options.
