    Default chicken pox and diarrhea

    Hi there
DD currently has chicken pox, and yesterday had a few runny nappies, but today has had about 5 diarrhea nappies already, and is on her 3rd pair of pants. Is that a common symptom of chicken pox or should I be taking her back to the doctors?

Hi Kellie! Poor Tahlia, that sounds awful. I don't know if it's common, so I just Googled and I found this:

...there are also more serious symptoms that can occur during a chickenpox breakout. These may include high fever, vomiting, and diarrhea.
It is probably worth taking her to the GP just for peace of mind. I'm not really sure what they could do for her though, it might be just one of those things that will pass soon. Otherwise give Nurse On Call a ring and ask them if there is anything you should do. They have been a great help to me in the past.

I hope she gets better soon .

Thanks Trish - we ended up taking her back to the GP and he said all is fine, he even said that her chicken pox aren't contagious any more!
