    Cloudy Urine

I'm going to try to get DS in the Dr tomorrow (it's too late today to get an appt) but am hoping someone might have some advice or insight as to what is going on with him.

DS has been day potty trained for 4 months now and we stopped overnight diapers a month ago. He has been accident free since then. This week though he has had 4 accidents (2 in the day and 2 overnight). He is constantly grabbing his penis which I assumed was just because he is a boy and he can, and sometimes tells me his penis hurts (though this is usually because he has given himself an erection or got it stuck the wrong way in his underwear). We had a urine test done 2 weeks ago (during a check-up to make sure the grabbing was nothing) and all was fine. Now when he pees in his little potty though you can see his urine is quite cloudy and the accidents have happened since then. I made the mistake or reading what cloudy urine could indicate on Google and scared myself a little. Has anyone else gone through anything similar?

How much water is he drinking? It could be hurting because it's too acidic?
WRT accidents...can't help you there... I haven't got that far yet.

Sounds like a UTI to me. No wonder he's grabbing - they hurt!

He could definitely stand to drink some more but it's so hard, he just doesn't want to.

Although not as common in boys as in girls, urinary tract infections can cause this. It also causes you to urinate more frequently (therefore the accidents), because you constantly have the urge to pee, even when there is nohing left anymore. And it really hurts.

    Hope he is better soon.

Maybe try giving him popsicles to eat. You can even make them yourself by freezing fruit juice. Or try giving him fruit that has a high water content (water melon, apples etc). Or maybe even make some jelly, that has a high water content, too. If it is a UTI, then he needs to take in more fluids and try to avoid salt!

I would get it checked out again. Maybe he got the infection because he kept touching himself? Maybe it only just developed, therefore they could not see anything at the last check up?

    good luck

Thanks so much for the suggestions, I will def get him checked again tomorrow just to be sure. In the meantime I have made him a giant sippy cup of dilute chocolate milk, something I don't like to give to often, and he is happily chugging it down. He just had a nice clear pee too so if it is a UTI it does not appear to be too bad. He said it doesn't hurt right now but he has a very red anus (gonna ask the doctor about that tomorrow too) which he says is itchy and ouchy so that is bothering him more.
