Sorry hun, but it sounds like Asthma. It's possible to have asthma and a persistent night time cough is the only symptom. It is sometimes triggered/preceeded by a cold.
A croup cough and a night asthma cough sound different. Your GP will know. I personally would recommend that after seeing a GP they refer you to a specialist if it is asthma, so that you can formulate an asthma plan.
There is medication (non-steriodal) for the asthma cough - but they need it for a long time.
