I just googled heating and your right if you have bowls of water out it will draw from that not from the moisture in the air so that will help - points for thinking

Lu - Cleaned all the filters a weeks or so ago so not that...

I wonder if I used 2 x steamers and then had some bowls of water around the place because at the end of the day wouldn't ANY type of heating that has a fan dry out the air??

If you have a big oil heater it should still be able to heat the space efficiently - they throw out a lot of heat. It might also be something you have to be aware of over summer too if it is reverse cycle - my DH can't sleep with aircon on for the same reason.

Thanks Trill - our lounge is about 18 sq meters and then opens out onto the kitchen which can't be closed off - it's a pretty huge space so the oil heater doesn't cope with it - the other prob is I can't have it right where we are as can't have Blue rolling into it and burning himself and they get pretty damn hot....

Ahhh, that's a bugger then. I would go for the bowls of water about the place then, and maybe even get a clothes horse and hang the odd load of washing inside as well?

when it go real cold and dry in my house, i used to turn the water on in the shower.. just hot for 10 mins, it steamed the house a little. WHen im sick and ive got my weather wall on, i can hardly breath!!
