Generally things to look for (from a first aid perspective) are:
* loss of consciousness
* nausea
* uneven pupil dilation
* yellowish-clear fluid from ears.
* sleepy-nes
Best option would have been for cool pack to be applied to the area (cold water washer is fine, not ice directly) and monitoring.
Of course, if you feel the need to go to the docs, do so. However bruises and lumps will feel sorta squishy.
FWIW, it's better to go to the emergency dept or a 24-hr-doc than wait till tomorrow.
Good luck
Oh, and sign up for a First-Aid course - you and your DH

Thanks so much everyone. He does seem his normal self, and no vomiting or anything, so I'm not worried any more. Will continue to keep an eye on him. Poor little mite.
Thanks again
