Both my girls had troubles with their belly buttons. The MCHN said DD1 had a granuloma, but when I went to the GP she was not sure and told me to use Betadine drops which seemed helped. The belly button was no longer mucky, but there was still a little growth there. If that had not worked she would have used the silver nitrate. With DD2 betadine did not work, so we were prescribed kenacombe ointment.

My DD had one and had to have silver nitrate put on it, she actualley needed 2 applictions of the silver nitrate- was all pretty easy and harmless though, they just put a tiny little bit on with a cotton bud type thing.

Angus had his treated with silver nitrate and it was gone in a couple of days. I can't remember how old he was but I think it was at his 8 week immunisations. Ruby had one too and it had gone by about 4 weeks.

Juliette had one and it looked like a blood blister sort of thing in her belly button. The Dr described it as a mass of healing cells. She treated it with silver nitrate for about 5 weeks but it didn't budge so she then treated with liquid nitrogen for a couple of weeks and that has cleared it up.
