    Question Nappy Rash gone crazy!!!

    Hi !!

My 6 month old son has had a rash that is getting progressively worse over the last week. it started like a nappy rash, at the front above his willy- like the nappy may have been irritating it- we have then had a few big days in the car which were hot days and it got really red and spread up to his belly, last sunday it started spreading further up his belly so i took him to the hospital to get checked out, the nurse said it looked like heat rash but to see a dr if it gets worse, well it did- it now cover his bottom, his back his chest his arms and his legs- i took him to the dr and he thinks its excema, and gave me some cream, that was yesterday and it hasnt gotten any better, it is blotchy and red. Until now he has never had even slight nappy rash or any kind og rash anywhere.

He hasnt been unwell- he isnt off his food, he doesnt seem bothered by it- but it is freaking me out- can someone pleaze tell me if this is normal and tell me it will go away eventually!!!

    TIA

I dont know if it is normal or anything like that but have you tried letting him run around without a nappy for a while? I know he might have an accident but the air might help clear it up. I really dont know alot about what I am talking about it but I know it was something my mum did when it was hot as we often got nappy rashes in the heat

Sounds like a bacterial infection on top of the nappy rash (fungal). What have you tried? Are there blisters? Is the skin broken? Is there any crusting? Is there a white crusty ring around rashes?
    - press rash with a clear piece of plastic (such as a plastic ruler). If skin turns pale - it is most likely eczema.
-Try giving a cool bath with QV flare up bath oil (not just the ordinary QV oil) twice a day. It has an antibacterial in it. should help with both eczema and infection.
    - Nappy-free time is a great idea.
    - Also try oats tied in muslin/hankerchief, soak and press over rashes. will relieve itching and redness.
    - keep skin dry. avoid all heavy ointments and wash-off (rather than wipe) at nappy change
    - you can try Dermaid soft 0.5% cortisone cream (very sparingly) over the worst "red" areas for a couple of days to help the rashes settle. Don't apply to broken skin.

Could it be like thrush or something else fungal?
Claire had a rash that started off like a nappy rash and then just got worse and kept spreading. It was all red and blotchy and like rough. It looked horrible. I took her to my GP and he said it was thrush and recommended we use some daktozin on it. It cleared up in about 2 days.

Maybe go back to the doctor again?
