T tubes are a drainage tube that gets attatched to the eardrum.(its the shape of a T) because it is a semi permanent tube for at least 2 yrs you cant get water in your ear.. i had no probs with this and still now i hate getting water in my ears.

its day surgery with an ENT. i dont think i had my last one out (my first one i grow a pollip over it so it had to be removed and replaced) but the removal is generally a simple bit of suction.

i would highly recomend chatting to your ENT about it..
