DD 14 months has a head cold, mainly just a runny nose. i noticed tonight that the lymph glands on the right side of her neck are swollen, she has at least 6 or so pea sized lumps on that side, its also the same side that she mainly gets an ear or sinus infection. should i be concerned or is simply related to the runny nose??
Quite often the lypmph nodes will be swollen when a virus is around. I would still have her booked in to see a GP anyway and get them to check it out just in case.
DS1 had lumps behind his head when he was around the age and we had them ultrsounded by referral and they turned out to be viral only and his body was doing the right things by trying to fight to infection.
Hey hun, DS1 has pea lumps in his neck that are more pronounced when he is ill. I did take him to the GP over a year ago, and he had an ultrasound to confirm that they are just enlarged lymph nodes. I don't actually know if they'll go away???? I hope so, cos I get sick of people noticing them, commenting, and asking if I've taken him to the Dr!!!!!
Slightly OT, how is she going with her cold? No sign of ear or sinus trouble?
mmm so DD still has these lumps, shes been infection free for 3 weeks now and fluid free for 2 (confirmed both last week and again yesterday) so why are they still swollen, should i take her back to the dr, or wait longer?
Bella has a few in her neck to and they are bigger when she is sick but they are generally always there, I took her to the Dr about them and she said thats what they are and they may always be there or they may come and go - but if you are concerned then off to the Dr's for your peace of mind.
