Says he has a sore penis but holding tummy?

DS has been complaing of a sore penis but then holding his tummy and crouching down or pulling his legs up and sort of crying/whining that it hurts. He doesnt have a temp but the tip of his penis is a bit red. It was on and off until an hour ago and he seemed fine at the park but since we got in the car for home its been fairly constant.
Gave him some panadol and he seems ok for now. If its still sore tomorrow or gets worse tonight Ill get him seen to.
But just wondering if anyone has any idea what could be causing it and if I should be really concerned and taking him to the hospy?

My brother had acute appendicitis once and abdo pain sets off alarm bells immediately for me. So Im not sure if Im being paranoid or if I should listen to my gut instinct and run him to ED. Especially since he seems ok after a dose of panadol and he doesnt have a temp.

    Could be...

DF thinks hes pretending. But I dont think so. A why would he? nothing like this has ever been suggested to him and b he stopped complaining about 20 mins after the panadol. He has not idea how long it takes to work.

Does UTI need urgent attention or can I keep up the drugs and take him to the gp tomorrow? Any natural remedies I can try?
I thought hed develop a temp straight away if it was that? Clearly I have NO IDEA lol

If he's complaining of pain and has a temp I think you should take him to a dr asap.

Says he has a sore penis but holding tummy?

My DS4yrs had bad tummy pain and it turned out to be tonsillitis. I know- odd. Dr says kids can often complain of tummy ache when it's tonsillitis. I would be getting him
Checked out for peace of mind.

My DS recently had a UTI, although he had tonsilitis at the same time so it's kinda hard to tell what symptoms came from what.

It sounds like a UTI, which unless he is rolling around in pain or had a fever that is ridiculous, my gut feel is it can wait for the GP. But you have to trust your mummy instincts and if you think he looks super unwell then maybe an after hours clinic if there is one near you?

Good luck, and I hope he's much better very soon

We took dd to emergency for similar (she was screaming in pain though). Turns out it was a sign of dehydration.

UTI can get very painful very quickly (speaking from personal experience). It's not something I'd put off too long. If you have after hours gp access I'd take him to be checked. If not, keep up fluids and get him checked tomorrow

Oh, and if he's toilet trained and out of nappies I would consider putting him in one overnight (or make sure the mattress is protected) as UTIs can lead to accidents...

    Thanks girls!!

Hmm, he hasnt had much water today, maybe he is a little dehydrated. He has a has other stuf, but it had a bit of sugar in it. Ill try and get some water into him. He has been refusing it. Eating has been ok though.

He doesnt seem to have a sore throat.

So glad I can come to you guys for reliable info when DF tells me Im being silly. Haha

Eta, he wouldnt be constipated would he? He has had a fair amount of cashews in the last few days, but hs poos are still normal consistancy.

Hes not toilet trained yet. Stubborn little monkey has decided he wont sit on the toilet again. *sigh*

Constipation is about the consistency of the poo so if it's normal then no. Although if he's been eating a lot of something that he's not used to then that could cause an upset tummy but not affect the consistency. Not sure it would cause a sore penis though.

Trust your gut hun, As BG said don't let him get deydrated and if you are at all worried get him seen to.

I'd get him checked for a UTI. They can be really nasty in boys.

Took him to the ED. He was ok, but after hours gp is a 40 min drive and home visit doctor is tio expensive as we aren't signed up yet. Didn't fancy this at 1am.

Anyway, doc said he seems ok, as he has no temp at this stage and to try to catch some wee and drop it in at the doctor. Just keep an eye on him and see what develops over the next couple of days.

I also recieved the vaccination lecture again. Not really sure that was relevent...

DS1 complained for a few days of a sore Penis and we could see nothing wrong then 1 day the tip of his penis was swollen and red and the foreskin was like a ball at the tip. He has a foreskin infection.

    Hope all ok

    Ouch feeb!

Thats odd BD, they told me that the first visit we had a few months ago was complimentary and if we wanted anymore "free" visits that we had to sign up and pay the 30/40 $$ annual fee. Otherwise we had to pay more than 150 $ for a house call before 11pm. This was 13 SICK. Is that the same one or do you have another?

ok i am a pro at UTI's in boys- DS had about 100 of them in his 10 years- he is chronic with them. Hot, moist conditions are ideal for any bugs to grow, so this weather is when the chances of infection is at its highest. My poor DS has had 2 since xmas allready
    things to do
    - salt water bath!
-get a cream from the chemist called "Calmoseptine" put a got dob of it right where it is sore- it will not only sooth but also heal and protect it
-if you havent got any cream or cant get any, then put some vaseline on the sore spots- it wont heal it, but it will protect it and stop it for hurting
    - get some ural satches and have some of the time- say 4 times a day- especially last thing at night and first thing in the morning
-drink water but not a massive amount- you dont want the kidneys to work harder than they have to. Also they have to the chance to go into spasm if they work to hard and that is when you get into trouble
    - make sure he can pee- if he cant- then take him straight to emergency
    - notice the colour and if any smell when he urinates- get a sample if you can- it smell really ammonia when there is an infection
-he also could be constipated. If his bowel is full, then it puts pressure on his bladder and can irritate it and cause problems. Constipation can also be the form of soft stools- that is the overflow. So perhaps even something to make sure he is Ok in that dept might help.

hope this info helps and yell out if you need some more advice!
