We saw the dr and she doesn't want to treat it yet. They prefer not to if its not in a full visible place. We have monthly app to monitor it. It's still growing and at my next app I am going to try and push for something because its just huge.
She did tell me that if a child had multiple of them they do like to do a ultrasound as they can be in their liver too.
Beatrix, thanks for your reply. Two weeks ago my DD saw a doctor at WCH and they decided to treat my DD because they considered her case was a bit unusual. She has multiple, one of them is deeper and close to her airway, maybe that's why they referred her to have MRI (general anesthetic applied) to make sure they are infantile hemangioma rather than vascular malformation. Then they can commence medication named propanolol (not sure if I spell the medication name correctly). We found that all of the bumps have shrinked. Normally they don't have MRI on babies, because my DD's look like vascular malformation, so they just need to confirm before medication. As a mother my heart was torn when seeing my littile with anesthetic and MRI, but I have no choice...
Not sure if you have got any idea about the medication. According to my doctor, it's used for treating high blood pressure, but with small dose it can be used for infantile hemangioma. And they have to monitor the baby's pulse, BP, sugar level after taking the first dose, because it might lower pulse, BP and sugar level of some baby. But the thing is, it would be a long treatment until she turns at 1, and then gradually reduce and stop according to doctor's advice.
Most of the babies with strawberry marks do not need the treatment, except those with the bumps on eyes, near airway or around liver. Take it easy, as your doctor doesn't concern too much on it, it will be fine, it will disappear someone when you even don't notice it.
