the directions on the packet says to swirl aroung the mouth first, how did u manage? my dd is 2 1/2 mnth soo..bit tricky. Also she has that thick coating on her tongue and when i wiped,a little came off. plus i occasionally give her the boobie for a couple of sucks and my nipples are fine, u would think that if she had thush, then i would also get it on m nipple right? the nurse had a look today and said it was thrush, but that might be because i just fed her?
I gave him little bits on the tip of his toungue so that he would lick it onto his lips and around his mouth with the extrusion reflex(where their tongue thrusts in and out).
Antheia, we had thrush and treated it with Nilstat. Because DD would simply just swallow the 1ml I was instructed to drop in her mouth I changed it to 0.5ml so it wasn't as easy for her to swallow a larger amount straight away. I then started using sterile cotton buds to swab and wipe the nilstat in the affected areas of her mouth. I found this helped a lot, as it helped delay her swallowing any of it for longer and helped spread it around her mouth.
Perhaps you could use a cotton bud to spread some on his lips and tongue also?
I would keep the treatment up for at least a week, and I would keep up treating your nipples for at least two weeks, to stop reccurence or you and he spreading it back and forth.
