Orson has this thick white stuff on his lips and all over his tongue. I thought it was milk but i tried wiping it off and it doesnt come off. He has just finished a course of antibiotics so am i right to asume it is thrush? If so, does he need to see a doctor for this?
Certainly sounds like it could be. You have a couple of options - you can give him some nystatin oral drops (nilstat) which will kill the thrush, and as suggested, if you are breastfeeding, some cream for your nipples as well. You could also put him on a course of probiotics as well - some of the major health brands do probiotic powders that cater especially to children, or you could use some yoghurt with live cultures. These will help restore the balance of good bacteria that the antibiotics disrupt and help his body fight off the thrush naturally.
the directions on the packet says to swirl aroung the mouth first, how did u manage? my dd is 2 1/2 mnth soo..bit tricky. Also she has that thick coating on her tongue and when i wiped,a little came off. plus i occasionally give her the boobie for a couple of sucks and my nipples are fine, u would think that if she had thush, then i would also get it on m nipple right? the nurse had a look today and said it was thrush, but that might be because i just fed her?
