I think that you need to follow the Doctors verbal advice. If you don't see an improvement in 48 hours take her back.
The rest of it - feeling like you're being paranoid may be his opinion or may just be something that you are projecting onto him. Either way it irrelevant.
always trust your mothers intuition, if you want to take her back, take her back. you'd rather seem paranoid, than miss something going on. also, i found with chesty coughs that nurofen is a hell of a lot better than panadol as it has a bit of anti-inflammitory in it which will help decrease the swelling in her throat xoxo
I'm another one who has seen the GP one day and been told it's just a cold/virus and gone back the next day to be told it's a nasty ear infection with a perforated ear drum Don't worry about being one of THOSE Mum's, I'm probably one of them too and I just say "better to be safe than sorry" when I explain I was there the day before
