    Smile Iggle Piggle Pinata

I am having an In The Night Garden themed party for my son when he turns 2 this month and I have just starting trying to think of ideas. I would like to see if I can make an Iggle Piggle Pinata! I have some instructions in a magazine on how to make one, but I am sure you could find some instructions if you google it.

If I come up with any other ideas I will let you know. Good luck!

    Just Had The Party

    Hi!

I had my In The Night Garden Party yesterday and was pleased with how it went. My son is turning two and the kids at the party were of a similar age and one little girl was 5 so they all seemed to really enjoy it. Here's what I did -

Pinata - I ended up just doing a simple Easter Egg pinata as it is Easter this weekend. Would've liked to have done an Iggle Piggle shape but as I was pressed for time I went with the easier option. The kids loved it. It wasn't difficult to make either. I blew up a balloon and placed it in an icecream container to hold it steady. The paste was made of 2 cups of flour, 3 cups of water. Dip newspaper strips in the paste and layer the balloon. I tied a long piece of string around the tie at the top of the balloon so that I could hang it outside in the sun. Instructions I found were for 4-5 layers of paper, but because it was for little kids I did about 3 layers around the middle of the balloon, and 4 layers at the top and bottom to make sure it was strong enough - this was just perfect. If you paint it wait till it is completely dry (1 day or 2 later). I started to paint it a little earlier and it sunk a little, so I stopped and waited for it to dry completely. Some instructions say to tape the hole at the top after it is filled with goodies, but I left it open and was glad I did because I remembered some hidden goodies later! I put in a variety of goodies - easter eggs, freddo frogs, turkish delights, tattoos, party whistles, Easter chicken toys and I cut up lots of thin strips of coloured crepe paper and added that. It looked fantastic when the pinata exploded.

Wall Cutouts - I bought some coloured cardboard and made large haahoo cutouts for the walls. The haahoos are pretty simple designs. I enjoy a bit of craft so I was able to do them in about 1 and 1/2 hours. My son went crazy when he saw them on the wall.

Music - We have an ITNG DVD so I put it on one of the settings where Iggle Piggle is asleep in his boat and music is playing softly in the background. We have a large tv in our lounge room, where the party was held, so this looked good.

If I had time I would've also played a game "Where's Iggle Piggle's Blanket?' We have a little Iggle Piggle blanket and I wanted to place it somewhere so the kids could look for it and get a prize.

Also made a tiered cake. The lower layer had the ninky nonk on it and the top layer had figurines on it.

A couple of little girls came to the party with their hair like Upsy Daisy - 6 little ponytails at the front of their hair. - it looked great with different coloured hairbands. I had an idea that came too late to make a red crest like Iggle Piggle's to wear using red felt and elastic to tie under his chin, but not enough time to make it - my son probably would've refused to wear it anyway.

Hope that helps. Love the other idea above about the yellow stepping stones!

It was rather simple in the end but then the kids were so young that I am sure they were satisfied!
