Mab - out of interest, which ones are the 'dodgy ones'? I'd be curious to know which ones don't work well for you...

Only if you're comfortable to tell, of course!

I am very naughty. I wont 2 auctions on b4b and I didn't already have money in paypal. so i have just spent $30 plus postage on 2 nappies. oops! 1 of them is a white mommy's touch AIO OSFA and the other is a BubbleJ size 2 Apple Candy.

I also bought some microfleece today for liners. Can I sew this in layers and use it as a booster as well or only good for liners?

    Question re: Mandy macs....
do you need to use snappis/pins? dont they have velco
Pink Palace, i answered your post about that on NC - i put in a link to a photo that shows how the snappis go on the MM's so you could see - i thought the Pink Palace on NC was you, asking about Mandy Macs.

I am too scared to contemplate using MCN on bilby WITHOUT a little squirt, got ours hooked up before she arrived. I must be really poo phobic. Lots of people live without them though, i'm just a wuss.

THat massive poo sounds a real nightmare! Typical it would happen when you are OUT!!! How are you finding the Mum's Bum's AIO? I liked the look of those, but haven't bought one cos it's aplix.

BTW - the pootasphre we had last night in the bath, was not ONE floaty thing to pick up, but i'm talking, too many floaty things to count!!!! so pick a number, ANY number, and add lotsa noughts to it. Yep, close. Poor dh. Bilby is getting better at producing neat little nuggets, but not on that ocassion!!

GUdism - congrats at becoming a BBH consultant - that's great!

Christy - why do you have to use up all the BUmG before doing a wash? am i missing something here? i dunno why, all your posts seem very cryptic all of a sudden. Have you gone all mysterious on me (wiggles eyebrows at you!!!).
I can't do cryptic puzzles, sudoku or nothing!

Nessa - so what exactly has Ms Super Wee-er managed to get thru? Does she sleep right thru? or wake for feeds? Does she get changed at feed time? There's a great section on Nappycino called "Heavy Wetters Saga" and also "Night Nappy Sagas".

Kazbah - sorry to hear Pip is so poorly. What do you need sewn hon? (that you don't have time to do?)

    Alioops
microfleece - stay dry fabric - for inners of pockets and aio's, and also as liners - works the OPPOSITE of absorbent fabrics, so no, not for a booster. You can make a booster (out of absorbent fabric e.g hemp, bamboo) and TOP it with microfleece though. That is a booster for a fitted nappy or Ai2.

microfleece liners only need cutting out, no sewing or edging or hemming is required. the fabric doesn't fray.

STAY DRY FABRICS e/g micropolar fleece, suedecloth, microchamois
ABSORBENT FABRICS e.g bamboo , hemp , sherpa, microfibre, cotton, flannelette, muslin
WATERPROOF FABRICS e.g polar fleece, malden mills fleece, PUL

THis is how the fabrics of MCN work (as was explained to me)

    Order of the layers
    baby's bottom
    stay dry layer
    absorbent fabric of nappy
    waterproof outer of nappy
your lap / furniture / car seat whatever

so you start at the top - baby's bottom - baby wees, the wee travels THRU the stay dry layer, so baby's bottom "stays dry",

the wee travels to the absorbent fabric of the nappy, getting soaked up and trapped there,

the wee DOESN"T go thru the waterproof layer, so your lap, the furniture etc is dry too.

Hope i have remembered all the relevant bits, and that it makes some sense!

Basically, if you want to sew something, look at your MCN stash, see how the pros do it. If you havne't seen any professional boosters made out of many layers of microfleece, there's a good reason for that - it doesn't work. Next time you visit NC, look at all the boosters they sell. They're all made out of absorbent MCN fabrics e.g microfibre, sherpa, bamboo, hemp, cotton. Ocassionally i see things for sale that i know won't work (based on what the properties of fabrics and what they do), but in the main, it's a pretty safe bet. Product specification pages on websites are a good source too.

GUDISM - that Kissaluvs buy sounds excellent. Does remind though of poor FJ's Kissaluv experience (she never got her parcel and it was over $100!!!).

BEATRIX - how excellent you have a nanna that knits longies! that's GOLD!!!

Gigi's market corner - fantastic bargains at WIddlewuns (at ozebaby) right now).

Gigi, I go out the back and hose the poo into the plants. it is good for them and every house has a back or front yard hose. when i am desperate I scape what i can off with toilet paper and put them in a biodegradable plastic bag until I get home

I am doing a swap with a friend who's DD suits narrow crotch only - and it's not Gigi! I am knitting her some longies and a soaker in exchange for 3 BumG's. not a bad deal considering what it costs me to make longies. (i buy good wool cheap )

Unfortunately my sis still isn't convinced on MCN, and thinks it will all be too hard when she goes back to work too much for her to organise so I might be buying her MCN from her, they have only been used once and only for BF bub. I wish she could watch my routine with the kidlets and washing and work! it really is easy! Oh well, more nappies for me.

I bought some cool crates cheap today. they are 32 lite crates and big w had them for $6 they are big enough for my stash with room to move. I even have my terry flats in them! I bought 3 and they are stackable, not see through and i bought each colour so they are bright and colourful and hide the messy folds. they dont fit on my shelves though. oh well, might have to get rid of those shelves anyway, or put accesories like liners and wipes on there in smaller baskets.

Now I need to hunt out the foamy wipes wash recipe, having seen what it should be like now (thanks Ness ) I am game to try and make some. do I need a special bottle to put it in?

Hmm, well that was a load of twaddle

WOSB: BBH with extra night booster and 16ply soaker
WOEB: sposie. havent made the liners yet and Sarah is wearing the last clean night nappy

Ali - just cut the microfleece into liners, no need to sew. Not so great as boosters, as they don't hold liquid, but they could make a cover around a microfibre booster. iykwim?

Gigi - I have heaps and heaps of fabric and no time to just sew it! Each time I clear off the table to sew, I come back an hour later & DH has covered it in junk!
But Mel sent me some lovely Zappy Nappy designs, so I'm a happy kaz. haven't managed to find any zappys in stock yet!
    Ahhh well.

Glad to see you back hun *hugs*

I should be in bed, and I can't even remember what I was going to say!

That's great about your hospital Sal, which one are you going to?

Gigi, thanks for that link mate, was good to have a look!

I am loving hearing about all this fluffy mail - it makes me sound self-controlled! Keep it up guys!

And yep, you're right about BumG's having a 12 month warranty, I have to get in touch with Nurture Nappies, since they're the Australian distributors...*puts that on tomorrow's 'to do' list*
Better go to bed, trying to retrain my body, what with one thing or another (last night twas a big headache), I've not been able to sleep, not cool.

WORB: Sposie, trying not to beat myself up, having 2 in cloth at the moment is a losing battle for me, and I'd rather have one in sposies than dirty or clean wet nappies sitting there while I wait for clothes horse space...
WOSB: I HOPE a BBH like I instructed dh...otherwise a pocket that probably won't last the night...

ETA: The pocket AIO's? $18's pretty good then I think, didn't they retail for about $25 usually? Must be making room for their minky, or are they phasing them out altogether do you think?

are the aio's or pocket aios?
if they are the old ones check ebay as ebay had them fror 15 free postage a while ago.
if they're the pockets, get them. the pockets are significantly better than the old magicalls.

eta: nelle posted before me. minkee bbh's. oh god dont tempt me. im NOT buying anymore.

Great things about flats, let me counts the ways lol:
    They dry fast
You can use them for sick cloths, wash rags... anything really!
    They dry fast
You can use 'em under snazzy covers....
    They dry fast
    They work - shock horror
    They dry fast
    They're sooooooooooo cheap
    They dry fast
There is something undeniably cute about a huge white terry baby's butt
and, I don't think I mentioned... they dry fast?!
Ditto ditto ditto! I truly love using flats. Of course MCNs are great for out and about, but I mostly use flats at home.

WOHB: sposie, cos he pooed in the only dry night nappy!

Gigi I think I'm being cryptic due to lack of brain cells. I'm living will my fuel meter on tired and a clingon baby who has become cranky this week. So nothing makes sense.

My BumG's are generally Jovie's day care nappy and she's not in care this week, so I wanted to use them so I could do a wash & they wouldn't be sitting in the bucket... for some random reason I can't quite articulate atm.... :P

WOHB: .... I'm embarrased to say nothing? We are in the process of trying to get the girls dressed... generally that includes a 20 minute nudey run.

    Morning ladies!

I'm now feeling quite bad as Pip very rarely does a nude run! I'm a bit paranoid I think ...

Liking the BBH (hemp) so far.

Hopefully Pip will wake in a good mood and I can give him his meds...

Just found out my FiL passed away overnight. Am worried that he caught Pip's virus, and that's what caused his demise. *sighs*

Am now wondering what MCN are suitable for mourning? I have a black "im a star" which isn't.

Hey does anyone have large BP snap-ins for sale? I'm needing about 4 or 5 of them, can't find them anywhere.

WoHB - sposie, he's asleep again.
