Wow - lots to catch up on & I haven't even been anywhere lol!!

I am tired now after reading page upon page about cow print minkee... felted longies.... leaking BBH... bargain babylegs.... *yawn*

Living vicariously through everyone who has got or will be getting fluffy mail, none for me for aggggggges, both in the future & the past lol. I DO want some purty longies, but apart from that I'm cool man I'm cool. Ah, I see your lollies are coming along Maz... will be in a bit of that action me thinks.

God I am lazy with washing - back down to flats again!! Atleast it didn't rain today & I managed to get some pockets on & off the line.

Well that was a boring post!! Sorry!!

    REPLIES
in the order of which they were posted by the various people
(that's why some people come up a few times)

Limey - oh, so the BG come in their own little wetbag - like the peapods do - sorry - i had not seen those.

    Pink Palace - which Disana's?
DIsana is a brand of MCN, they make various products.
Are you meaning the Disana woollen pullup soakers? (great for nights).
I have an XL for my gal (who is technically a M) cos they are designed like a concertina, so even one too large for your bub, is fine (doesn't look too big and bulky) when they are smaller. So instead of buying five sizes, you can get away with 2 or 3 over the nappy life of your child. they are high waisted (wonderful for night nappying). Great photos of them on real babies, same size on different weight bubbas at greenmountaindiapers (US site). just google it.

(that's how i figured out what size to buy). Weewuns have just recently dropped their price.

LIMEY - have you tried OUTER boosting your tots fluffle? that is, adding a booster between the nappy and the cover. so you do up the fluffle, put a booster on the OUTSIDE of the FLuffle, then do up the cover.

i sewed in three layered booster of bamboo into the Fluffle to assist with absorbency.

we use Fluffles you can snappi shut, so very adjustable. i got aplix fluffle and quick unpicked the aplix, so we could use the snappi instead.

The Fluffle is what i suggest when i see posts about people desperate for a fast drying nappy. Each nappy has it's own strengthens (for diff reasons).

PINK PALACE - i can't knit either, but i can do basic sewing. I get an opshop jumper and make a pair of woollen longies out of it - that's called a bumjumper when you look up the free patterns. Now i'm getting more confident, i trace a pattern around a pair of tracksuit pants that i like the style of (remember to stretch out the waist band) and use that as my template.

the trick is to find 100%wool jumpers to do it with. ANyhoo, easier (for me) than the knitting a pair of longies (hell would freeze over first!!!).

they work great for overnights too.

    LONGIES - made of wool
BUMJUMPER - longie made of big jumper that is 100% wool
    FLONGIES - made of fleece

MAZ - i googled for COW PRINT MINKY and got a site that sells six animal print minkies BUT NOT COWPRINT!!! (nelle, maz was after cowprint minky fabric, not blueberries as far as i understood. but someone else mentioned that the blueberries have a cowprint minky nappy.) It's so hard to keep track of all the posts isn't it?

NESSA - how is Milliana today?

PINK PALACE - there are many HIGH RISE night cover options.
i get covers like this to go over my bulkiest OSFA Night nappies no worries!
    - bear bottoms malden mills fleece covers (easy care, washing machine)
    - woollen soakers, shorties and longies
    - disana woollen pull soakers
    - flongies

WOOL keeps baby dry IF YOU LANOLISE it, and wool is a high percentage, like 100%

Nappycino forum has a great link called WHY WOOL - all is revealed there

When you buy a night cover, you need to measure your bub's rise BEFORE you buy the night cover. The rise of a night nappy will be longer than a day nappy cos night nappies have more layers to them. So that is why the night covers are often a bigger size than the day covers. I don't use the night covers in the day, cos they are bulky to put under clothes. (except for the longies, which just REPLACE trousers in the day time). But i'm so impressed with how dry they keep bilby's bedding, i don't care the knitted soakers (covers like the Disana woollen pullup) only get used at night. We don't have to do all that bed linen washing, so i'm more than happy.

So get out a tape measure, or buy one from Woolworths in the haby aisle,

put Ashley in her night nappy, fully boosted

    and meausure
FROM Ashley's belly button, down, between the legs and up the other side, all the way to the small of the back.

that will give you the magic number, her NIGHT RISE.

ANyone you buy your night cover from, TELL THEM HER NIGHT RISE. Heck, add a few cm's to it, cos i'm sure Ashley will grow!

the woollies with the drawstrings are great, so easy to adjust for whatever your bub's waist is at the time.

Pink, honey, calm down. You may have a BB wool cover that SAYS it's a large - did you get it new or 2nd hand? it may have been shrunk by accident - so you're beaten before you even start.

I really think you need a dedicated night nappy (with the appropriated sized cover), and use your BBH for day nappies for Miz A. Or at least until she becomes a lighter wetter at night.

Your dh is right about one thing - MCN doesn't work if you use the wrong tool for the job. Once you are using what Ashley really needs (right size, night nappy for night) i think you will see a vast improvement. Then dh will be eating his words!

LIMEY - how hot was the wash your longies got stuck in? Fuller's Earth is something (from the chemist, a bit tricky to hunt down) that i tried on the reccy of KAZBAH to unshrink a woolly. DIdn't work for me, but mine had been thru the hot drier as well!

GUDISM - if you put babylegs on under his shorties, you won't get the gape.

Queen - can you email me please hon - my current email for you just does bounce bounce bounce.

b, if Annika doesn't need a high rise, you may find it fits her ok. just remember to boost to the front with the lay in booster seems she is a tummy girl.

we really are bad influences aren't we. I was umming and ahing over those longies on NN - the reef ones...**** they are gorgeous but I had to get another WC cause the nautic one we have is getting a bit small and as Fiona informs me its actually a day nappy not a night nappy. I'd actually love another one of thsoe cause they are Jed's favourite nappy but their all sold out so I'll have to wait

now im gonna wiat and seeif Sammi wnats any minkee then im making one hell of an order

ETA - god can you tell im tired..hahahahhahah i didnt even see your post Sam..hahahahah ok its a date

oh on a different note- my phone shiat itsself yesterday (mobile) so I got a nioce little purple ericson that I told Jed im gonna make a nappy cover for..he just laughed at me

PP the large cover should be ample. I have no problems at all with the coverage on mine! I would suggest you take pictures of the nappy and cover on DD and email them the BBH and ask them what the problem is because something is wrong there
Maybe it's a small cut batch or maybe you've shrunk it (have you washed it in hot water or something?). Putting her to bed with the nappy poking out is setting it up for a failure. Sorry to be blunt but give the cloth a miss overnight till you get a cover that covers the whole nappy otherwise it is a waste of time.
I used to use the wool covers during the day. I use AIO's mostly now but if I run out then they get a wear if I need.

Maz I had a look at minky delight and have a few desires. I'll call you tomorrow and discuss a plan
