If the snap in is bamboo you should be okish, Most bamboo materials are prewashed prior to sewing, so its possible its had at least 1 or 2 washes already. I don't prewash anything LOL (that I buy that is, I prewash before I sew)

I'd wait on the new magicalls. They tend to have good specials so it might be worth it. IF you can live with missing out on a colour JIC is sells out

You don't own a jumper Jodi!? *nelle packs her bags for Cairns*

I use BP's before their first wash, but that's usually at home, so that a leak isn't a disaster.

Do you think that Minky liners would work? Instead of fleece? I don't why it took this long to occur to me, but I just LOVE the way poop rolls off minky.

I want to know too - How are the Minky Magicalls different to the PUL ones? Do they still have the diggy-in elastic at the legs? (it digs into Riv's legs and leaves marks.)

What Large nappies are people loving for their bubs? I'm thinking I might get some more Ittis, and maybe some more BBH (since they're on special) that I can team with longies...

WORB: Sposie, because he's 'relocated' his nappies, like he relocates everything, and I can't find them yet...missing an Itti and BerryPlush at least...both brown, funnily enough!

Nelle - to answer your question about nappies on bigger bubs - I still really like my GK on him... and any of the widdlewuns too..... oh and of course BumG's.... (and I have a LOT of brands to choose from...pmsl!)

Melham - your question about GNST? I have two of them, they work pretty good if boosted appropriately, but the rise isn't as high as a Snoozywun so I worry more with DS cos of the tummy sleeping thing... but had one on him the other night and it didn't leak..

have you looked at the prefolds at Mazalicious? they have a middle liner of minky. Lush!

Diggy in elastic - that would be Ye Olde Fold Over Elastic i think - sold as FOE at MCN sewing supply sites.

BEAUTRIX - the northern suburbs BBH consultant sent out emails asking if anyone wanted to order the new BBH minky aio's - do you want her email addy?

CONGRATS SKITTLEBUB! i have not been able to get into BB last few days - site kept coming up as error, so i think i missed your exciting news - from your signature, i'm guessing you had a bub eager to be born? Congrats on your WOHB post!!!

    Child Care and MCN
Today, one of the CCC workers said to me "your nappy system works really well, so much better than those old squares". Glad that they are fine with our pocket mcn. I label the front with a sticker saying FRONT cos bilby's worker cannot seem to tell the diff between the front and back, so i'm trying to make it super easy for her. But they haven't had to change her clothes due to leaks, so i think in general the workers are coping. I get the feeling she's the FIRST child they have EVER seen, in MCN, in their CCC.

Great info on the bubblebubs website - that informs you how to approach CCC about using MCN - the relevant state legislation e.g Children's Services Act for your state, adn what it has to say about nappies. Great stuff to read for parents who use CCC and MCN.

I also printed out the pages at NurtureNappies (under info link at top of home page) about What's in a Disposable - so i was fully armed with info when i went into CCC.

NELLE - with your "not enough nappies for Riv" thinking - nappies that dry fast are good to keep cycling thru - so what about pockets + 6 more inserts than you buy pockets. Cos the inserts will take longer to dry. (Aren't there giraffe minkee greenkid pockets? are they a good fit for Riv? if so - you could see giraffes more often LOL

NONIE - sometimes i see Berry Plush for $21 at nurture nappies (cover only i think). Baby soft landings also sell them, and weewuns too, bound to be others e.g baby blossom prolly.

ALI - that's excellent about the dryer - great idea to have it warming up the lounge at same time.

LIMEY - what sort of fitteds? for what weight bub, front or side snaps, plain or prints? any clues? natural or synthetic inners? i have ideas, but will wait to hear more details on what you are after first.

Have a nice computer free five days Maz, we will miss you! Mel has GOT to have had her bubba by the time you get back!!!
